This beer just came out in bottles,8/02.Fairly well hopped. I think an IPA should have more hopps. Has a slight alcohol flavor but is overall a good IPA.I love hopps and this beer could use plenty more in my opinion. I will buy it again. shaeffbser (70) - Vail, Colorado, USA - JUN 5, 2003
good head and golden brown body. Hoppy aroma. hoopy taste but nothing amazing about this beer the palate has good carbonation. Pretty uninteresting IPA obxdude10 (2367) - Pottstown, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 24, 2003
Disappointing IPA, not a very good example of the IPA style, not enough hops, not very well balanced, very little malty profile, a bit on the bland side

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2004 Pours a cloudy copper with a small head. Aroma is a little malty and floral. Taste is kind of harsh; has the grapefruit and hops but is unpleasantly bitter on the back end. Kind of metallic tasting. Mouthfeel is full and round. Not awful, but there are plenty of other IPAs that blow this one away. YourDarkLord (1800) - Urbana, Illinois, USA - MAY 30, 2004
Mendocino has some good beer. This isn’t up to standards. Amber with foamy white head. Nose is malt and grapefruit/hops, some pine. Medium bodied. Flavor was so-so. Some citrus. Bitter. Unimpressive.

Poured with a medium yellow color with a very small head. Hoppy piney aroma. Not as bitter/hoppy as other IPAs I’ve tasted. Somewhat of a sour aftertaste. Tastes of lemon, pine and citris. I’ll pass on this one in the future. NYHarvey (2153) - New York, New York, USA - AUG 27, 2004
Smells hoppy. Looks cool. Nice head slightly cloudy. Tastes of grapefruit rind. Bitter finish. Looks great, feels great in the mouth, but way too bitter even for the style. steview (1037) - Petaluma, California, USA - JAN 18, 2005
egh, something to wash my dinner down. it’s got a stale rotten kind of aftertaste that doesn’t offend, but i don’t like it. it’s a typical ipa--grapefruit thing, biscuity malt i guess--that seems like it doesn’t know how to age after it’s bottling date. footbalm (1219) - Western Minneapolis Suburbs, Minnesota, USA - MAR 3, 2005
Semi-murky,golden brew. The hop aroma from this was light with not much else popping out.Taste very bitterVery bitter for an IPA. Likeburning (149) - Franklin, Tennessee, USA - JAN 9, 2006
This beer has an orange/amber color akin to other IPAs with the signature creamy head. Hoppy like it should be, but lacking the fruit hints that most IPAs are known for. It was a smooth taste, but that was one of the few outstanding qualities.
