I don’t know. There’s something about this. It’s good. It isn’t bland. It is heavy, but it isn’t killing the gut. It’s got a clear, delicious taste. It’s beer, and if you haven’t had a good one in awhile, then you’d do yourself a favor by trying one of these once. I can’t say it’s the best, because maybe I haven’t had that yet, but this could be it. nearbeer (5424) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - NOV 21, 2010
12 oz. Opaque black with a lasting, quarter-inch creamy head and crunchy lacing everywhere. Nose is creamy espresso, charred wood and light berries. Medium-heavy body is velvety smooth, slight wateriness makes this one very drinkable against the big malt. Flavor is espresso with cream, smoky char, raisin and molasses. Most excellent. bryanm18 (48) - Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 29, 2011
Great. Very obvious oatmeal flavor with a little smokiness. Smells fantastic. DaveMac (1) - New York, USA - NOV 30, 2013 does not count
Great beer. One of my favorite oatmeal stouts. Dark black color, full bodied. Hints of chocolate and coffee. Great beer for coffee lovers. robertjm (892) - Albany, California, USA - DEC 4, 2010
Pours a huge thick tan head. Dark black body. Absolutely gorgeous. Appearance couldn’t get any better! Great traditional aroma of roasted coffee and oatmeal. Flavors of black coffee and unsweetened chocolate. Only quibble is perhaps the body is a little on the thin side and could be more chewy. Probably one of my favorite Mendocino brews!

Bottle: @ Costa Real w Ramenen. Roasty, chocolate, smokiness, great balance. Food Pairing: Smoked Salmon. Malty_MacHops (688) - Eastanollee, Georgia, USA - FEB 10, 2012
Very good. The aroma is a subtle blend of roast and coffee. The beer is opaque black with a thick tan head leaving lacing throughout. The taste is smooth malt and coffe with only the subtlest coffee presence. The body is thick creamy and smooth. Excellent. tysongillmore (362) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - NOV 21, 2015
I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments.

Very dark black, brown edges, lumpy tight dark tan head. Aroma is creamy chocolate, light roast, sweet. Taste is sweet, roasty, chocolate, oatmeal creaminess. Solid sweet stout. Aquilo (651) - Berkeley, California, USA - DEC 11, 2010
Black with a thick brown head. Rich coffee and roasted malt aroma. Flavor is bitter with coffee and bitter dark chocolate. Velvety mouthfeel. Not a whole lot to say other than delicious.
