Dense compact foam covers a faint aroma of hard roasted malt with slight licorice notes. The taste is characterized by good dark caramel with a little roasted malt notes and licorice. It is a somewhat sweeter schwarzbier than German ones, and although I swear most of the German schwarzbiers, then I find in this Czech a nice balanced product where a gentle hop bitterness put a fine edge of sweetness. It is easy to drink and tasteful and quite live up to the good quality as you would expect with Czech beer. Really fine beer. brewtalita (331) - Prague, CZECH REPUBLIC - SEP 2, 2015
Pours dark brown, with tan head. Stable and low foam. Carbonation quite high for this style. Aroma of coffee and chocolate and sour cherries.
Palate is thin given but given its ABV quite normal.
Taste is complex with sour roasted maltiness, rye bread, coffee and quite bitter noble hops ending. No chocolate in taste despite the aroma.
Not a bad brew although lacks some complexity and robustness. efeesse (556) - Praha, CZECH REPUBLIC - AUG 7, 2015

(Can) Dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with black rye bread, caramel, chocolate, coffee and a touch of liquorice. Malty, roasted taste with notes of black rye bread, coffee, chocolate, liquorice, dried fruit and a gentle, roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Well balanced and tasty, but not the most intruiging dark Czech. Quite enjoyable.
