Cask. Low fluffy but lasting light brown head. Pitch black body. Lovely and distinct coffee cocoa aroma. Mild but good coffee liquorice flavor with low carbonation and a long aftertaste. maeib (8749) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - AUG 14, 2008
Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - GBBF 2008. A black beer with no head. A dry roasty aroma with a very burnt dry roasty flavour. Initially it seems short but then you realise the burntness has stayed with you. Pretty decent. MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 14, 2008

Black with a thin tan head and good condition. Superb all round. Everything I would want from and English stout. Dry and roasty, brimming with coffee and dark chocolate. Superb malt. Fatastic dry mouth feel. Very quaffable. Glorious all round.
Cask at GBBF ... Deep black ... nice roast malts ... little burnt malt ... quite toasted deep rich ... some chocolate in linger. thebeertourist (5188) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 9, 2008
Cask at GBBF 08. Black with a light brown froth. Great roasted coffee and chocolate aromas. Good roast and dry flavours. Enjoyable.

Cask at the GBBF 2008, gravity dispense. Pitch black colour, minimal head. Nice roasted aroma, notes of coffee. The flavour is also roasty with notes of coffee, but the mouthfeel is a bit thin. Fairly dry. Some hints of liquorice and dark bitter chocolate, but not really impressive. Rather "dead" finish with a moderate bitterness. oh6gdx (26485) - Vasa, FINLAND - AUG 8, 2008

Black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is nuts, coffee, roasted malts and mild notes of hops. Flavour is caramel, fruity hops, mildly yeasty. A bit watery to the palate, but otherwise nice.
Black with tiny beige head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, coffee and a bit of smoke. Sweet flavor that goes same way and finishes dry. Lovely! leaparsons (10809) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 26, 2007
Cask, Burton Fest 07. Black with a small beige head. Aromas are lots of roast coffee with hints of lactose. Some dark chocolate. Dry with some berry sourness. Flavours are dry and earthy yet smooth coffee. Very roasty with plain chocolate. Gritty on the finish. Very good. RichardGretton (4838) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 23, 2007
Burton Summer Beer Festival, 2007. Black beer with a light head. The aroma is roasted and the flavour is very bitter and coffee, too bitter for my taste. Overall a very strong coffee flavoured stout.
