Cask-conditioned at the Hillgrove Porter Stores, Bristol March 2007. Near black with a decent beige head. Aromas of dark fruit, roast malt and plain chocolate. More chocolate in the flavour before a long, dry roasted finish. Very good. harrisoni (18579) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - MAR 23, 2007
Cask handpull at Ship & Mitre, Liverpool. Supplied to them through Hilden. Black colour with dark brown edges, thin tan head. Some sweet roasted malt. Some very nice choc. Good finish. Bit of powder, more choc. Bit grainy. Very good stout, well put together. DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - OCT 26, 2006
1. Cask Handpump at the Marble Arch Inn, Manchester 31/01/2002
Black slightly fruity and smooth on the palate. Bitter roast finish.
2. Cask Stillage at the Memorial Hall, Northwich 23/09/2006
Some roast aroma. Dark and slightly rich on the palate with some alcohol present. Hints of dryness and bitterness in a crisp lasting roast finish. tiggmtl (4545) - East York, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 21, 2006
Caramel, chocolate, coffee and vanilla are strong in the aroma. Opaque black body is topped by a decent, fine bubbled, off white head that lasts well and leaves rings on the glass. Chocolate and caramel sweetness balances nicely with roastiness with some coffee tones. Bitterness is pronounced and lasting. Medium body is a touch syrupy with moderate carbonation. Sampled on tap at the brewpub. Nekronos (4175) - Xalapa, MEXICO - DEC 10, 2005
UPDATED: MAR 25, 2006 NIce, the only thing is that the foam is a little bubbling, I don’t like that, but the aroma was great. I like this brewery is getting its beers here. I missed them.

Pitch black with a rich, dark, espresso crema coloured head. Very rich aroma of chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and caramel. Rich, silky mouthfeel, slight sweetness with milk chocolate and vanilla flavours on the front leading into a bitter dark chocolate/coffee bitterness which is then followed by a long roastiness that lasts and lasts. This is the epitome of stout for me. Fulkrum78 (175) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 26, 2004
I had this on vacation in Dublin. I could smell it from a couple feet away when my friend brought it over to the table. Very heavy caramel notes in both flavor and smell. Almost like a dessert beer. Strong alcohol for sure. Tasty, but not something I ould want to drink more than one of at a time. rickgordon (3878) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - MAY 25, 2003
Black. Aroma and flavor with obvious influences of licorice and coffee. Medium dry. Head smooth like a dancefloor. Mmm...
