Black with medium beige creamy head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt and caramel. Sweet flavor with hard roasted malt,bitter coffee and liquerice notes. Finishes bitter. sebletitje (10285) - Enghien, BELGIUM - APR 8, 2011
Draft @ Messrs, Dublin.
Brune, col ivoire;

Cask-conditioned at the Hillgrove Porter Stores, Bristol 19/03/09. Opaque black in colour, with a big, frothy, dark tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and milk chocolate. Light mouth feel, with plenty of coffee flavour, some caramel, and the lactic edge mentioned by others in the finish. Enjoyable.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Cambridge BF. A black stout with a frothy tan coloured head. The aroma is roasty and there’s a lactic quality. There is also a little smoke. The taste is a little lactic with a touch of roast. Again drinkable but too thin and dull. nimbleprop (8718) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - JUN 17, 2008
On tap at Messrs Maguire in Dublin. Pours an opaque, heavy looking black with a thick, creamy white head. No real carbonation. Aroma is suspiciously absent... slight roasted aroma if you search. Flavor is strong with a healthy dose of chocolate plus plenty of toast and grain. Creamy in the mouth. Great session beer and by far the best they had on tap while I was in. larsga (7627) - Oslo, NORWAY - MAR 24, 2008
Medium brown-beige shiny creamy everlasting head. Opaque black body, barely dark red-brown at edges. Roasty burnt vanilla and caramel aroma with coffee notes. Dry burnt roasty milky coffee taste with spicy caramelly notes. Long, lingering aftertaste with an emphasis on the burntness, with notes of licorice. Some pepper and spice, too. Mild mouthfeel. Nice, but not too special. (0.3l draft at the brewpub.) mjs (7588) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUL 9, 2008
