Another idea from the abbey Brewed in the tradition of the monks of Wissembourg, who had their beer made on the current site of the brewery, Wendelinus is the result of a centuries-old know-how. Beneath its amber colour and creamy head is an abbey beer with a range of flavours that mature on the palate with every mouthful. Strong, with a pleasant touch of bitterness, this is a beer to be savoured for its persistent mellowness and caramelized fruity flavours. Take your time with it!

Bottle from Spirited Wines. Appearance - amber with a thin head which disappears quickly. Nose - earthy, orangey and some red fruits. Taste - toffee, oranges, earthy again. Palate - medium bodied with a sweet and crunchy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - interesting beer.

Clear golden with small and fast disappearing white head. Sweet malts, some cloves, light lemon and peach. Sweet with light yeasty bitter finish. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Meh

Bottle looks simple but really good. Beer in the glass zippy, small head. Spicy-sharp aroma. Starts strong-malty, some alcoholic notes, modest fruity like arpricot. Finish with some sourish and dry notes. Finish still intense malty and spicy. Still warming-alcoholic. Okay.

Clear, golden with minimum foam. Malt, toffee and a hint of banana in the aroma. Sweet malt, with toffee and a hint of fruit in the taste. High in carbon.

Bottle from the off license on Westbourne Grove. I was quite excited to see some new beers in there, what an idiot! Quite a deep amber colour, lacking head. Malty, sweet, caramel, really lacking any hop at all to balance, neither bitterness nor flavour to be found. When would a beer like this ever be appropriate?

Dunkel goldenes Bier mit geringer weißer Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig, getreidig, etwas fruchtig. Geschmack sehr malzig fruchtig, etwas Karamell, süß, minimal alkoholisch.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2014 Bottle at The Rock Tapas Bar. Aroma is very sweet malt with brown sugar and vanilla notes. Slightly oxidized notes as well, and as it warms some dates and figs. Tastes very malty and sweet. No hop presence at all. Tastes like that Spanish drink Malta. Ready to age, but not sure if that would be a good thing. One is enough, thanks.

Deep golden hue and extremely short-lived white head. Purchased in a 33cl bottle from Spirited Wines. Aroma of malts, vanilla, dates and cloves. Taste is quite sweet and with hints of fresh bread. Also notes of cloves, toffee and dried fruits. Plenty of alcohol at 6.8% but this beer is reasonably well-balanced. Not particularly complex for an abbey beer but quite pleasant. The after taste is a little strange and rather metallic.

Cerveza dorada con reflejos brillantes anaranjados un poco turbia.Aromas muy intensa de frutas madura y florales. Notas acarameladas y sabor a levadura. Cuerpo medio y acabado ligeramente dulce.

UPDATED: AUG 23, 2015 Bottles from E.Leclerc supermarket, Marmoutier, France and Cora supermarket, Saint Malo, Brittany, France. Bright golden coloured pouring with a disappearing thin white head. It has a sweet boozy fruity flavour with toffee and malty notes followed by more warmth and strawberry on the finish.
