Another idea from the abbey Brewed in the tradition of the monks of Wissembourg, who had their beer made on the current site of the brewery, Wendelinus is the result of a centuries-old know-how. Beneath its amber colour and creamy head is an abbey beer with a range of flavours that mature on the palate with every mouthful. Strong, with a pleasant touch of bitterness, this is a beer to be savoured for its persistent mellowness and caramelized fruity flavours. Take your time with it!

Evilman (247) - Taverny, FRANCE - JUN 23, 2017
From can, a month after best-before date. Quite average. I had no real expectations on this one, not sure if it aged in a wrong way in its can but it was quite unsurprising, yet not unpleasant in the same time. Rather sweet for a bière de garde, alcohol is well hidden, very classic taste, yeast aroma... Can’t say a lot on it. Boring overall but not bad for what it is. Let’s say this one’s APPROVED BY TAVERNY’S BLACK METAL CREW !

AssKicker (494) - Strasbourg, FRANCE - APR 13, 2017

phfyysik (1269) - Tartu, ESTONIA - APR 5, 2017
Pours amber with medium white head. Aroma is old litter, malts, cookies, some caramel, hay, pie. Taste is caramel, hay, cookies, some tea, light dried fruits, potato. Good beer!

stupre (344) - Nanterre, FRANCE - MAR 18, 2017
Pas facile à trouver en région parisienne. Couleur orangée. Le houblon choisit n’est pas le plus judicieux.

Marduk (7694) - Reval, ESTONIA - FEB 20, 2017
330ml bottle. Dark golden color. Medium size, white head, stays. Sweet, alcohol, acetone, caramel, honey in aroma. Sweet as hell, malty, alcohol and honey in taste. Tastes like boozebomb from 2L PET bottle. Harsh to drink. Nope.

330ml bottle (eDrinks, Tallinn)
Sweet malty aroma. Sweet malty taste, woof what a kick of alcohol! Sweetish honey tinge, and a Belgian twist to the taste. Full sweet palate, but rough.

visionthing (5336) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JAN 29, 2017
33cl bottle from eDrinks, Haabersti. Pours clear dark golden with a fairly fast dissipating, white head.Fairly grainy and slightly fruity aroma with notes of honey, caramel and Belgian yeast. Sweet and malty with some fruity and slightly spicy notes and a rather light bitterness. Alcohol gets quite noticeable as it warms up. Drinkable, but highly forgettable.

suurjuust (3531) - ESTONIA - DEC 23, 2016
330ml bottle. Clear golden beer, medium white head. Nose is malty, grains, starch, sweetness and esters. Flavor is malts and grains with a watery edge, starch. Caramel notes in the finish, floral hops, sweetness. Graininess and wateriness work against this one, but it’s not a complete failure.

The_Osprey (7980) - Richmond, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 22, 2016
August 2016 - Bottle shared on level 42, picked up in the shop below One Canada Square. As ’Meteor Wendelinus Blonde’. Dark yellow, lightly sparkling, foamy white head. Aroma is buttery, spicy, some citrus, lager. Body is smooth with tingly carbonation. Taste is sweet, thin grainy malts, buttery with a spicy finish. Not a great beer, but interesting to try a biere de garde. In saying that, it’s quite a lot like a tripel. (2.8)

Level 42 Bottleshare. Thanks to Danny. Clear gold beer, a few lonely white bubbles. Palate is light, dry and has modest fine carbonation. Sweet pale malts, sweet esters and sweet floralness. Tracen of citric hop. Sweet then! But inoffensive.
