This is a credible heffe from a macrobrewer--credible, but not great. The nose presents an interesting banana bread aroma, and the flavor brings out more sweet yeasts with notes of banana and vanilla. Cloudy to the point of opacity, with only the hing of a head. The least bit of malty hops comes out in the finish, but only enough to flirt with your taste buds. Overall, a drinkable brew, but not great by any means. mkgrenwel (619) - North Shore, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 21, 2006
Strangely, the pour produces little head, yet the mouthfeel is very highly carbonated. A little prickly where it shouldn’t be. Very spicy in the yeast/clove department. Some banana. I didn’t even agitate the yeast and this is super yeasty. Has that bready annoying flavor that I get in Belgians sometimes. Really too much yeast spice to appreciate anything else. I applaud them for not wimping out and actually brewiing something to style. However, this just doesn’t do it for me. If they had taken this approach with their Demon’s Hop Yard, maybe that would have been a different story.
