2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Much better than I had expected. Certainly my favorite from the Holiday gift pack.
Aroma and flavor is dark malts, thin in the middle and a mix of chocolate and and slight acidity in the finish. slowrunner77 (12972) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 15, 2014
"a weak lighter ale blended with a weak dark ale. not revolting, but i had it on tap with a pizza and beyond the crispness and tiny bit of malt, there’s nothing there..." edgallow (4548) - nashville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 6, 2012
UPDATED: FEB 9, 2012 12 oz bottle, pours black with a tan head. Malty aroma but not really much more then that. BREWMUSKCLES (2744) - New Jersey, USA - AUG 9, 2011
body that is dense with soft carbonation like a parfait. bit of chocolate and gravy master flavor that is sweet and with cereal grains. finish lightens on the body and lingering flavor of sweetness and barley. it is good on a hot day and would probably be good in certain situations. philbertk (1873) - Seattle, Washington, USA - APR 18, 2010
Anheuser-Busch, Inc.--Michelob Specialty Brewing Group--Black and Tan--1998 12 oz. Bottle. 5.00% ABV. (3.25 / 5.0) Very dark and black. Light chocolate flavor in medium light body. Very clean finish.

This is inferior in all ways to any black and tan that you could possibly concoct on your own. Too sweet and watery by half for my tastes. More lager than Porter. NJBeerman013 (1054) - Hamilton Twp., New Jersey, USA - APR 29, 2009
Bottle. Found some old notes. somewhat of a muddy brown in color, next to flat pour. It had somewhat of a roasted coffee aroma. Tasting revealed somewhat of a bitter lager porter mix. It had a watery body, and somewhat of an oily character. Not very good. Birdiebeagle (958) - Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 4, 2009
Bottle Poured a dark brown. Had aroma of grain and bubbles. Did not taste like a mix but rather a weak bock. Not awful but its gone now anyway. topherh (1929) - Kearney, Missouri, USA - DEC 4, 2008
Bottle poured like a dark lager. Aroma was of roasted malt. Flavor was burnt malt and very light on the tongue. BlackDonald (1126) - Gulf Shores, Alabama, USA - AUG 8, 2008
I want to say this was the precursor to Amber bock, but this is terrible. No separation between the dark and the light, just an amberish dark brown color. Light and grainy and not quite horrid, but close.
