Aroma hints at some roasted malts, but is mostly neutral. This looks as if somebody dropped some caramel cola coloring in it--fizzy macro head--some soapy lace...Flavor does feature some malt, but little balancing hops here...tell-tale tang in the finish...Carbonation is excessive, and accentuates watery palate...Still, not a bad-tasting product, a reasonable alternative to most of the mainstream macro lagers out there. Can’t really complain about this. A bit too carbonated. Mild slightly complex flavorings. Not sure what they’re going after with this. Only place you ever see this crap is at chain restaurants. Gunshy (479) - Ohio, USA - JUL 28, 2002
My first introduction to dark beer. While darker in color, and more body to it, the beer is pretty weak to what most people expect from a dark beer mattduling (64) - Fairmont, West Virginia, USA - JUN 7, 2002
All in all its not a bad dark beer. The taste is a little weak. argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - APR 9, 2002
This was it -- the one that started me off on beer drinking. I thought beer was awful, because i had tried the ’king of beers,’ and that was a joke. then, in 1986, the fall of my sophomore year, i found mick dark. sure it’s lousy compared to what i love now, but it was something i could drink, and even enjoy then.

Im not a fan of the Michelob products jezmez68 (404) - Chesterton, Indiana, USA - MAR 24, 2002
Being a college freshman in 1987, this was a heavier beer you could get before I learned about imports. The thing about Michelob Dark vs. ’REAL’ dark beers, is that you can drink a whole six pack and not feel like you ate a large meal. Still not a great beer, but if you want a dark beer flavor without the heaviness, you can’t go wrong with this one. jennythenipper (74) - St. Paul, Minnesota, USA - MAR 18, 2002
Dark beer for people that don’t actually like to have any flavor in their beer. I tried this at the American Legion bar where there were only michelob beers on tap. It didn’t take long to go back to bottled beer. Lame. estoppel (1028) - Buffalo, New York, USA - MAR 17, 2002
I used to buy this in the mid-1980s; it tasted better than most macros and was cheaper than the bad imports that were then available. Happily, I no longer have to drink it. kmeves (1098) - Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 12, 2002
Nothing like any dark beer that I’ve enjoyed.
