Tallahassee, Fl. - Part of a 20 pack of Holiday brews that I picked up in Wal Mart that will come in handy for guests that need a beer! Dark mahagony pour with an off-white head that resembles the bubbles that are produced when making a mudhole with a hose - kinda thin. Decent nose - roasted nuts, some baker’s chocolate. Flavor has a decent earthy chalkiness to it with some chocolate after tones and a bit of an oily finish. Mouthfeel - could be thicker - but not a distractor. Overall, a decent porter. Soft, chalk-nutty cocoa roast aroma. Extremely dark, fair label. Born on Aug 18, 2006. Tangy roast, coffee acidity. Lots of carbonation. Dry, with a building roast bitterness. Body is thinnish and the finish becomes lightly sweet with an aspirin bitterness. I wish that I could get this everywhere that they offer Amber Bock as the best beer on tap. zombywoof (467) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - OCT 23, 2006
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2008 Looks nice enough, nice color and full creamy head. Drinks Ok-coffee, chocolate and some spruce hops. The body’s thin and watery. Yeah, yeah I know it’s Anheuser-Busch, but it’s not bad. Not something I’d seek out, there are far better porters out there, but it’s not a drain pour either. This would be much better if it wasn’t so watery. Nice pour, a deep mahogany with some reddish highlights and a creamy tan head. The aroma is faint, some lightly roasted malts and brown sugar sweetness. Also water. The flavor is more burnt than roasted, but that’s not too overbearing because it’s so thinned out. A little more sugar, a touch of chocolate. Drinkable, but easily forgettable.Slick (1969) - Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA - OCT 22, 2006

Nice brown color, small off white head that had a short hang time then faded quickly leaving nothing behind. The aroma was lightly malty with some mild roastiness and a mild chocolate thing going on.The flavor was not that great but not to bad eather for an AB brew.Light malty side with a bit of a roastiness coming through and a slight hint of chocolate,Some mild hops showing in the end and a decent but fleeting bitterness.Again nothing special but it’s worth a try.

12oz bottle from the sampler pack - Pours brown with a pretty nice creamy tan head that stayed well. Aromas of chocolate and light roast. Flavor is roast, chocolate and mild coffee with some caramel. Light well carbonated body and roasty on the finish.. Average.. Ratman197 (15117) - Arvada, Colorado, USA - OCT 22, 2006
Bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown[almost black] with a lasting amber head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malt, vanilla and a hint of coffee. Palate was light bodied. Flavors of chocolate, roastiness and a hint of vanilla with a smooth lingering roasty finish. jblendy (519) - Hawthorne, New Jersey, USA - OCT 21, 2006
Pours very dark brown with a little fizzy tan head. Aroma has light notes of coffee, and toffee, but it’s very light much. Flavor is pretty much like a nice lager with a little extra flavor. There’s some nice hints of coffee, and little roasted malt, but like the aroma, it’s very light. Palate is light and thin, a little too fizzy, but there’s a nice nice light note of bitterness on the finish. Overalll, it’s a michelob, never real good, but never real bad. thegreenrooster (4490) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - OCT 21, 2006
Pour is a almost black with a small tan head. Aroma is pretty nice mix of chocolate and roasted nuts. Flavor is a bit weaker then the aroma but still pretty nice with some chocolate and coffee showing up. Finish is sweet but bitter. It would be easy to dump on this brew b/c of who made it but i would say this is a average to slightly above average porter. morrdt (715) - Jacksonville, Florida, USA - OCT 20, 2006
Bottle from the 2006 sampler pack. Pours a dark brown with a little head. Aroma is a little bit of chocolate and walnuts? Taste is a little weak on the porter side, but for A-B is beer is a MAJOR accomplishment. Me like it.
