Our Rye-P.A. is a robust beer with distinct bitterness that is similar to many IPA’s, but balanced by complex malt flavor and the spiciness of rye.

~Fairly malty in scent. Sweet caramel, also rye grains and citrus and spicy hops. ~ Clear reddish amber color with small white head. ~Medium citrus hop flavor with some resinous notes. Well balanced with spicy rye and malts in background. ~Medium-high carbonation, medium bodied, slight hop derived astringency. Some alcohol warming. ~AB has some of the most skilled brewers in the industry. When they are finally allowed to branch out and make some quality brews for the beer lovers, they just get bashed. I am all for the small craft brewers, but I am really happy to see that the big boys are stepping up to make some good brews.

I find this very refreshing with a good amount of malts. the hops are clean with a hard taste that works very well . looks like a real IPA with a reddish brown. good beer

First off I hate IPA’s and RyaPS. Didn’t even bother to pour this into a glass. Aroma was more hoppy than most Michelob but not hoppy like PA’s. Also had a Rye and caramel malt nose to it. Flavor was some what hoppy and most defiantly Rye with some sweet malts. Finish was citrus. Didn’t like this beer as I expected.

Thanks to A-B for sending the brew. I do appreciate it and will do my best in my comments. I am disappointed. I was hoping this would be the best beer from AB that I’d tasted. Smells like a lack of dry hopping entirely. Washed out texture possibly due to oxidation. Very oxidized malts in the wet cardboard range with hints of sherry, traces of biscuit. Couldn’t finish it.

12 oz bottle: Aroma is a bit hoppy with some detectable rye note within some light caramel notes as well. Appearance is a reddish amber with a off white head thata lingers. Taste got nice hop and rye upfront with some malt backing. A slightly below average IPA in my honest opinion. Decent but not that great at all. Cheers!

The aroma is light sweet caramel and moderately hoppy with a bit of rye in there I think. The appearance is amber with a nice foamy three finger head. The flavor is like the aroma with a bitter soapy finish. The palate is thin but moderately carbonated. Overall a well made beer and better than I expected but has a bit to much in the way of astringency.

Pours dark copper with a small beige head. Mild hop aroma. Stronger hop flavor, grapefruit hops with a nice distinct rye bite. I think this is a pretty good beer, take away the label and I think it would be rated slightly higher.

9/30/2009: Michelob Rye P.A. ... Aroma: Fruity rye notes; suggestion of citru orange hops. Appearance: Transparent copper-orange color; ample head of ivory-colored foam. Flavor: Weak rye malt with a hint of darker roast; moderate bitterness; some citrus hops. Palate: Medium-bodied; slightly too much carbonation. Overall: Decent, but thoroughly unexciting and somewhat disappointing.

12 fl. oz. bottle (09218) from Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #24 for this beer.

12 oz bottle from sampler pack - pours and orangish copper with 1 finger of quickly fading head - Perhaps a hint a floral hops in the aroma but they are very faint - slight bitterness on the palate - overall it is boring but at least the big guys recognize the craft market

clear coppr color, big off white head, somewhat lacy. nose of sweet malt and something metallic. flavor of sweet malt with a metalic aftertaste. didn’t detect much of a hop note. medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel, metalic finish. another pedestrian showing from inbev. not dreadful, but you would think that the macro brewer of the most popular beer in the world would have better control over their more limited releases. you would think wrong. sampler case from sam’s club in matteson.
