This all malt beer is brewed with the finest blend of barley malts for a rich, full-bodied flavor. We made it smoother, cleaner, and delicately balanced by the addition of imported hops.

From the Christmas sampler pack. Light white head. Few bubbles and a deep gold coloring. The aroma is bubblegum with peaches, white bread and grass. Taste is dark bread with a little smoke and a light clean finish. Also some hint of apples. Not awful by any stretch.

12oz bottle from the holiday pack. Light copper color with a frothy, lacing head around the glass. Light malt in the aroma, with a trace of some hops, but nothing significant. Smooth taste. Light malt/hop balance. Metallic finish. Decent beer for AB, but nothing great.

IslandHaole (1291) - Misawa, JAPAN - DEC 15, 2004
A clear Golden/Orange color with a small white head. Mild sweet malt smell, perhaps even traces of floral hops. Sweet, slightly metallic with a bit of a hop follow. Not great but above average for AB.

(bottle-part of a holiday pack) deep gold. Malty aroma. Flavor is a bit mettalic and musty. The glasses in the pack are nice though.

Jedsbrew (465) - Rhineland, Missouri, USA - DEC 7, 2004
Rich golden color with a substantial and durable head and lacing. Aroma-lemongrass, barley malt, fresh. Medium bodied, sweet and malty with caramel and citrus notes, a little toffee. Medium finish, bittersweet and slightly herbal. Not bad at all.

djmcfar (64) - Ixonia, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 4, 2004
light amber color - thin head and good lacing - malty aroma with some hops - slightly sweet and creamy flavor with a mildly tangy hops finish. All and all, very good for an AB product.

Pours is a dark yellow with a small white head. Aroma is malty with a wee bit of hops somewhere in there. Flavor is sweet and slightly malty. Kind of reminded me of a Euro lager like a Heineken dark.

Woo! I got lucky and was able to pick singles out of the $20 winter pack and paid only $1 for each 4 of these seasonal beers. Did I say lucky? Pale gold color, light head, no lacing. Nose of DMS and grainy malts, grassy hops, very tangy. Taste is lightly sweet and sweaty, watery tail, a bit metallic. Fairly good for an AB lager but not up to par with the big micro boys.

badgerben (5283) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - NOV 26, 2004
Yellow color with a thin head. No aroma and tastes a little like dirt, but in a good way, if that makes sense...

PorterPounder (8228) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - NOV 25, 2004
Picked up as part of a Holiday 18 Pack in Savannah. Unlike the Pale Ale, this one needs work, it is as if they left something out - hops perhaps? Dark golden appearance, light, fluffy white head, aroma of fresh lake water. Flavor has an odd, tingly taste to it that is not too unlike drinking milk after eating cranberry sauce. No hint of maltiness that I could find. Palate is okay, goes down smooth, just not a whole lot of flavor. AB missed the boat on this one.
