Draught. In a frosted glass (probably best for taste) medium fizzy white head, no retention (due to frost?) and amber bodied. Aroma was sugar and stale malt. Flavor was stale, and grainy without any body. Little malt flavor and what there was, wasn’t good. Aftertaste of sugar and unpleasant maltiness. YucK! I am glad I tried it to confirm my feeling about A/B. REDDOGICE (243) - nantucket, Massachusetts, USA - MAR 14, 2006

12 oz bottle from City Market in Burlington (March 2006) inflicted upon ClarkVV and sadly shared with him. The pour isn’t too bad, light clear amber with lots of bubbling action, big foamy head that disappears fairly quicky (though not instantly as some macros are wont to do)....nose is not so bad either, some caramelized grain that actually smells "real" if you know what I mean, though it is interrupted by a noticeable DMS/corn character; really this isn’t offensive at all to the nostrils....but unfortunately and not surprisingly, it is pretty bad to the mouth, watery and totally dry, minerallic and thin, with no real caramel flavor at all in it; no "amber" taste if you will.....lightly spoiled, sour character builds as it heats up at all beyond fridge temp. Still, for an A-B product this is probably above average. What does that say, America? ClarkVV (6758) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - MAR 13, 2006
2006 bottle sampled blind on 3/10/06, generously provided by Muzzlehatch. Thanks Barry, how can I possibly repay you for this?DocLock (10731) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 13, 2006
White head dissipating quickly atop a caramel-amber body. Clear, filtered, highly carbonated, no lacing. The nose smells of malt, plenty of barley-like graininess. Light dough, fairly dry, with a seltzer-water/carbonic dryness to it. No hop apparency that I could find, but nor did I find any DMS in the aroma. Which is odd because the flavor is almost undrinkable on account of it. Grainy, dry and almond-skin like astringency, with salty seltzer water turning in to seared sourdough and just too much acrid, spoiled veggies. Growing more sour as it warms, stale and not wholesome tasting. No alcohol apparency, but I am not able to finish half a 12oz bottle. No real texture to speak of, just overcarbonation and a fully dried out, papery/watery feel to it.
Copper colored with some slight bready malt and hop aromas. The flavors were not well defined, consisting of some corn flakey malts and subdued hops. Light to medium palate, and not terribly complex or balanced.

12 oz bottle: Pours a nice copper color with a fizzy almost non existant head. Some carbonation remains throughout. Aroma is nearly non exsitant as well. The flavor isn’t too bad. Its like the regular Utlra with a faint hint of malt somewhere in there. KSS (102) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - MAR 9, 2006
I had to try it. Faint malt cereal taste. Strictly for those looking for a low calorie buzz or to wash down some spicy food. A bit of a unpleasant metallic aftertaste. bethmatt0421 (337) - Covington, Kentucky, USA - MAR 9, 2006
Exactly like the regular ultra, but darker. Well, maybe there is just a little more bread notes, or maybe my mind is playing tricks on me because it is just darker in color. Anyway, just a poor excuse for an amber beer. PattyBoy (302) - North Liberty, Iowa, USA - MAR 6, 2006
Bottle, poured a faint copper fizzy white head the vanished quickly. For some reason this sounded good to me, but it tasted like every other Michelob product, just a different color. It had the exact same sour taste and fizzy mouthfeel. Definitely not worth the premium price I paid for it. heemer77 (5358) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - MAR 6, 2006
On tap at a local bar. The body was light copper with a foamy white head. The aroma was grainy like a breakfast cereal. There was also a little soap and cheap white bread crust. The taste was very light white bread with some hints of grass. This is very light, nothng offensive, just bland.
