3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at MBC Lansing. Deep translucent red body, medium tight buff head. Sweet nose with brown sugar, berries, toast, and alcohol. Aggressive body dominated by hot alcohol and sweet candy, with notes of brown sugar, caramel, and berries. Hot, dry, and a bit medicinal, with none of the flabby citrus/pine hops or oxidized caramels that I have come to dread in barleywines.

This was an interesting barley wine. Much sweeter than any barley wine Iíve had. It had a sort of syrupiness too it that I didnít particularly enjoy. It seemed out of place somehow. It was very drinkable, and it tastes quite alright. I donít think they quite hit the mark on this one though.
