A Belgian, lightly spiced pale ale. This caramel colored, light-bodied brew has a mild caramel flavor, a hint of orange peel and coriander and slight hop bitterness.

Draft, on Premises at Michigan Brewing, which purchased the Celis brand from Miller. The owner, Bobby Mason, told me this was actually a pale ale, but some quirk in Texas law requires it to be labeled as a "Bock." It's darker than the Amber Lager I had just sampled. Still and all, its profile is a rather plain ”beer,” but it is malty and a little roasty.

Old tasting notes. Brewer in Austin, Texas. Orange red color. Frothy white head. Malty toffeeish aroma. Sweetish malt flavor is full bodied and flavorful. Pleasant herbal hop finish.

"a bit on the generic side, and although i expected it to malt-heavy a little too sweet and too much of a one trick pont for my taste. not bad, but not good either."

Top-fermented bock with cristal malts and Whitbread yeast, apparently. Tasted as old beer. Creamy head, deep brownish amber colour; fruity and malty aroma, caramel, honey, lightly spiced; taste malty, rounded, soft and sweetish, bit honeyish, mild spices, dry finish.

Pale golden yellow with a white head. Aroma of a German lager with fresh malt notes. Taste is also somewhat German lager in nature with some light Belgian spice of coriander and hay notes. Body is creamy, but light and refreshing. Lasting German maltiness and spices. Delicious warm weather beer, I wish I could get some more, but both Pierre Celis and Michigan Brewing Company are gone :’(, but here’s hoping his daughter Christine brings it back!

12oz bottle (Old Notes-Brewed by Celis-Austin)-Pours amber with a decent sized head. Aroma of malt and caramel. Taste of yeast, caramel, malt, and toffee. This medium bodied brew is well balanced and quite smooth.

Patrickctenchi (6731) - Cox’s Knob, columbus, Indiana, USA - NOV 12, 2013
Bottle: Pours clear, amber, with a short tan head. Caramel, breadheel aroma. Taste is flat cola, light malt, caramel. Nothing overtly bad, just very dull and bland.

Bottle. Sweet toasty fruity malt aroma. Hazy amber with a moderate off-white head. Bland tea-like malt flavor. Light body, moderate carbonation.

dfinney23 (3424) - Houston, Texas, USA - FEB 11, 2013
Inoffensive but bland. Grain, yeast, maybe a touch of spice. Or maybe it just dislodged some spices from between my teeth.

Rando7 (787) - Iowa, USA - FEB 26, 2012
Bottle pours slightly cloudy medium-dark copper with thin white head. Minimal lacing. Aroma a little caramel with almost an adjunct impression given. Taste sweet with caramel, faint spices and fruits. Palate thin with a slight tingle. Finish slight hops.

Kind of a light bock with faint Belgian elements thrown in. Pretty drinkable pleasant unassuming beer.
