Bottle. Strong pine and grapefruit hops aroma. Golden yellow color with moderate head. Sweet orange malt initially followed by a moderately strong bitter grapefruit peel/pine hops finish. Well-made IPA. satan165 (1020) - River Grove, Illinois, USA - JUN 27, 2011
aroma is good pine and lemon. lightly bready malt creeps in. appearance is big legs, lasting head, clouded gold. flavor is excellent balance of well developed malts presenting as fresh bread along side fresh lemon zest and bare tips of other tropical fruits. mouthfeel is satisfyingly full and coating. Bottle courtesy of ray101. Pours copper with a generous white head. Smells of wildflowers, light spice, earthy, some funky undertones. Tastes dry with a pronounced floral note, soe spicy elements and a dry crisp finish. burg326 (5482) - Florida, USA - JUN 7, 2011
12 ounce botle that pours hazy red/orange color that had a little white head. Each swig had had aliitle flavor of pineapple, and apricot. A decent IPA that i would drink again. Garito793 (241) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 13, 2011
A goodish ipa but no goose island. Not very aromatic, a bit more flavorful. More sweet than typical.

This IPA has a strong aroma that pair well with its cloudy amber orange color and frothy white head. It has a heavy bitter taste with an abrupt finish. Overall this is a great IPA. jcos (1851) - Maryland, USA - APR 12, 2011
A solid IPA. Catching up on my old ratings, must be from when Ben4321 lived with me. Would like to try again. HopBurp (74) - Michigan, USA - FEB 25, 2011
Pours a cloudy burnt orange flavor with 2 finger head. nice nose of grapefruit and orange--sweet. Taste is of heavy citrus grapefruit, pine bitter mouth pucker hops. hint of carmel malts. Finishes with an acidic texture that develops leaving you with the hops over the malt--tingles. Very nice ipa, balance isnt perfect but still good. rings (54) - Michigan, USA - FEB 14, 2011
One of their longtime house brews is their High Seas IPA, which is also distributed in many areas of the state.
While MBC tweaks their recipes pretty regularly, this is a more traditional IPA, in the sense that it’s both high gravity and generous with the hops. Checking in at around 7.5 percent, it leads off a spicy Cascade dry hopped aroma and immediately warms the palate with a nice malty fullness. The sweetness shifts quickly into a sharp hoppy bite and rolls off the back of the tongue and into the exhale with a long, lingering dry finish. Classic.
If you’re into the huge IBUs, this one may be a little less satisfying than others, but for an IPA with a little more balance, this would be one to seek out. As MBC can be inconsistent overall, this is one of their best and most reliable offerings.

On draft at Bar Louie. Hazy copper color with frothy white head. Aroma of heavy pine resin, grapefruit. Taste is quite bitter, with a bit of balancing caramel sweetness. Crisp and lively mouthfeel. A solid IPA, especially if you like them more hop-forward.
