Brown. Insignificant, off-white head. Roasty malts and nuts in the aroma. Roasted malt with little else in the flavor. Medium/light body, nice carbonation, easy drinking. Average-some macroness to it.

Pours a clear brown. This brew stings my palate for some reason, Very carmelly with hints of roasted nuttyness. I’ve had better brown ales than this, yet it is above average in regular beer standards.

Bottle. Pours a dark transparent brown color with a small light tan head. Nose is light caramel, semi sweet with a tiny little bit of alcohol. taste has a slight dry, alchol taste with some light nuts and malt. Palate is stingy and carbonated.

sweet nutty aroma, light chocolate brown, overly sweet and nutty with a chalky mouthfeel, ever heard of bittering hops?

Aggie80 (818) - Michigan, USA - NOV 13, 2004
I was a bit disappointed. This has that earthy aftertaste to it. Reasonable head and some lacing, with a strong brown color to it. Mild in the hops area

Styles (2014) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - NOV 11, 2004
UPDATED: JAN 11, 2008 Tap-Old Chicago. Brown/mahogany with decent fluffy head. Aroma slightly muted, but consist of nuts and roast. Flavor just straightforward nut brown. Slight nut character, roast through the middle, residuel sweet malt in the finish. Body is a tad thin. Not bad, but nothing special.

Pailhead (6541) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - OCT 31, 2004
Bottle: Aroma is roasty and nutty. Pours a dark transparent brown with a little red to it and an off-white head. Nice lacing. Real strong nutty presence with very light caramel in the flavor. Light bitterness in the finish. Nice roastiness and nuttiness flavors make it an okay beer, but lacking in other areas.

One of my favorite local beers. Honest and smooth. Must try it. ABV catches you quicker than you'd expect.

Dark dark amber with a white head. Faint malty aroma Strange faint malt creamy flavour. Slight alcohol noticable.
