12oz handbottle bonus from deftim (via hoppymeal). Thanks Tim! Black. Low carbonation. Some toasted coconut in the aroma. Leans dry. Pretty hoppy and bitter, probably amplified by the dryness. Decent, but I prefer sweeter RISs. WeeHeavySD (3387) - Portland, Oregon, USA - DEC 29, 2008
12oz handbottle from Wetherel from deftim from hoppymeal to us. Pours black with a tan ring. Nose is molasses and syrupy sweet malts. Taste is smokey rich and sticky with chocolate and coffee notes. JCB (3999) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - NOV 21, 2008
12oz bottle from mibirder - thanks, Sean! The pour was thick and chocolatey, with not much carbonation. This certainly didn’t detract, though, from the lovely smooth body of the beer, a fine sipper for a cold night. There were pleasant notes of chocolate and molasses in the nose. The flavor was even more complex, with a hint of peat, smoke, and dried dark fruits to complement the nicely chalky finish. A very well-done stout that deserves more attention.

bottle from mibirder. Nice. Very nice. Low carbonation. Mild alcohol finish. Smooth chocolate body. Good, but not overdone. Odeed (1803) - Bakersfield, California, USA - SEP 9, 2008
(12 oz non-labeled bottle from mibirder)uber oily black with not much head.the aroma is a nice mix of dark fruits, roasted malts, smoke, coffee, chocolate, and a slight hop finish.flavor is much of the same with the chocolate and coffee shining through a bit more.complex yet smooth, with a long lasting finish.this is seriously awesome. kmweaver (3207) - Petaluma, California, USA - AUG 22, 2008
12oz bottle, courtesy of a trade from a while ago. Pours a dark, chocolate-brown color; thin light-tan head with fine-bubbled, cascading lacing. Basic RIS aroma: lots of roasted / charred malts, nougats, and dark chocolate in the aroma; slight amounts of alcoholic warmth on the perimeter. Full mouthfeel: solid amounts of dark chocolate, roasted and charred malts, licorice, and oily presence upfront; the oily character most definitely adds to the appeal, but I can’t imagine drinking a much of this; roasted and charred, and lacking a bit of necessary bitterness to add to the overall drinkability; solid impy stout overall, but quite run-of-the-mill in its flavor profile. Lengthy finish: lots of roasted / charred malts, licorice, and bitter chocolate; reasonably dry. masonjer (609) - Holt, Michigan, USA - AUG 11, 2008
Poured an opaque black into the glass. Aroma was chocolate, coffee, and vanilla cream. Taste was much the same, quite creamy and sweet, hides the abv fairly well. My main complaint is that it felt a little thin and wasn’t super complex. Tasted good though. Aggie80 (818) - Michigan, USA - JUL 29, 2008
Wow! This one will certainly kick you if you aren’t looking! Deep dark pour with almost a syrup consistancy. The high alcohol is noticable, but does not distract from the overall coffee and chocolate undertones. It has a strong bitterness that is really pleasant.
