11/07/2007: The color of Michigan Brewing Sunset Amber Lager is coppery orange. It has a blasé beer-y aroma and that is slightly floral. The beer has flavors of toasted bread/grain, dough, and is a bit sweet. It is medium-light in body and smooth and mellow in the mouth. Overall this seemed too light for an Amber or Vienna-style beer.
12 fl. oz. bottle. Rating #56 for this beer.
From a 12 oz bottle obtained in a trade dated 8-1-09 which is two weeks from now so this must be the expiration date, rather than the bottling date. This poured the color of strong tea, and left an off white head and decent lacing. Nose is of caramel malts. Mouthfeel is faiirly soft and smooth. Flavor is malty with not much else showing . Kind of one-dimensional but refreshing enough to drink. MrManning (2009) - Hamilton, Ontario, CANADA - APR 18, 2009
Bottle from the brewery- Deep orangey amber with a fizzy white cap. Nose of grainy malts, some caramel, fresh floral hops, some perfume. Sweet caramel malts meet grains and floral bitter hops. Prickly carbonation and a bit too sweet towards the finish. Pretty good. overall.

Growler. Pours a golden, amber color with a thin white head. Aroma is light malts and mild hops, not a strong aroma. Taste is thin and lacking, a little watery with a malty base and mild hop finish. Refreshing in the summertime I guess. mjg74 (3205) - La Mesa, California, USA - FEB 6, 2009
Bottled. Hazy amber in color. Somewhat sour nose. Some bready maltiness as well. Sweet and malty flavors up front. Finish gets a little cloying. Some metallic notes as well. patrick767 (4474) - fort wayne, Indiana, USA - JAN 10, 2009
bottle - Pours light amber with a one finger head. It has a mild, malt aroma. The flavor is lightly toasted caramel malt and a bit of hops. It’s light bodied and while drinkable and not offensive at all, quite unremarkable. KAggie97 (3529) - Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA - OCT 25, 2008
Bottle.br>Pours an average amber with a nose of rotten vegetable malt and ripe tomato. Bitter malt syrup on biscuits in the taste, with a finish of vinegar wine. Average mouthfeel. Average biscuity amber-style beer. sleestak (226) - Williamston, Michigan, USA - AUG 2, 2008
Pours amber with a thin off-white head that quickly evaporated into the ether. Aroma is heavily malted, caramel, and something unpleasantly medicinal. Taste follows with loads of toffee and a hint of bitter, grassy hops. As with the aroma, there’s something off that corrupts the finish. MBC is a local brewery, so I’m always rooting hard for their success. Unfortunately, even with hometown judging, I can’t rate this higher than simply mediocre.
