a decently dark and opaque liquid with a light brown head - heavily roasty aroma with medium to very dark grains dominating. flavor is like chewing on a mixture of coffee grounds and roasted barley which sucks all the moisture out of your mouth; extraordinarily dry for a stout. not the kind of dry where it’s simply not sweet - it’s a full-blown dryness that permeates the beer. On tap at The Pizza Plant - came black, with a small, almost non-existent tan head. Mild aroma of lightly toasted grains and some black licorice. Bigger flavour of roasted malt, coffee, some hoppiness, and a strange chalkiness as well. Very dry - I almost felt like I needed a glass of water after this, just to rehydrate the inside of my mouth - it was that dry. OK, but it left me unsatisfied. Draught at Pizza Plant, Buffalo - Appearance is black, with transparency only around the edges of the glass. Small, light mocha head on top that dissapeared rather quickly. Light, toasted, cereal aroma. In the flavour the roastiness comes forward in much more evidence, hitting you with heavy notes of coffee off the top, before settling into a lightly bitter, hoppy finish. Hoppy aftertaste as well. Very dry stout. Mouthfeel/body is a bit thin. Certainly good, but not something I could/would drink a lot of. Sammy (13000) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 11, 2007
On tap at Pizza Plant. Bit of head not long lasting with lace dots. Black with above average carbonation making for thinnish mouthfeel. Dry. Serviceable but below average stout.Sour above all. End of the line?

Bottle, poured black with a creamy tan head, fragrances of chocolate, molasses, coffee, bitter dark chocolate, lots of dark roasted coffee/espresso fragrance as it warms, roasted and dark roasted malt, dry stout taste, some bitter coffee flavor, dark malt taste, not to bad of a stout, a little more bitter then some other stouts I have tried.

12 oz bottle via ogglethorp (thanks!).Pours a dark brown/almost black with a small beige head. Nose is a wonderful aroma of espresso, chocolate, roasted malts. Taste starts with some sweet caramel, then some mild hops, and finishes with a bitter burnt coffee. High carbonation. Medium body. Very drinkable and flavorful for a Stout. paulmetzger (154) - Pocatello, Idaho, USA - JAN 15, 2007
Opaque deep dark brown with mild carbonation. Aroma is mostly coffee, a bit burnt. Some chocolate roastyness. Tastes like it smells but some faint grassy hops are in there too.
The place this stout falls flat is in the mouthfeel: more of a crisp pale ale feel than a silky stout feel. FROTHINGSLOSH (8291) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 16, 2006
UPDATED: AUG 27, 2007 This beer came in my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with only a trace of a tan head that faded quickly. The aroma was very strong roasty and toasty malts with a smoky undertone. The body is thin. The flavor is very smoky and roasty and dry. There is a hint of coffee and a strong smoky finish. Definitely not my style. DrewTaylor (154) - Michigan, USA - DEC 8, 2006
Pours a dark brown/black with a very small creamy off-white head. Aroma of cocoa and toffee. Toasted taste with cocoa and coffee. Very little carbonation. Extremely smooth stout without any alcohol burn. ogglethorp (919) - Ohio, USA - DEC 5, 2006
Tap at brewpub. Pours cloudy dark brown, with a small tanhead that diminishes quickly. Aroma is sorta faint, but chocolate, toasted malt, coffee. Taste is dark chocolate, burnt sugar, coffee. Palate is slightly thin for a stout on the medium side, nice bitter coffee finish. Not bad.
