12 oz can. Canned on 4/22/16. (Econo Foods) Marquette, MI.
Hazy deep golden color with a tiny white head. Mild fruity hops, orange, mild bitterness and sweetish malt in the aroma. The flavor is grapefruity and resiny hops, some citrus, dryness, malt and some herbs. Not very exciting.

Tap: Deep amber body, slightly cloudy with an eggshell layer of foam across the top. Doesn’t really smell like an IPA... Some light caramel malt, toast, very small hint of earth, but not a huge mention of hops at all. Flavor is very stale; taste like OLD hops, must, over-worked toasted malts, stale toffee, & caramel. Slightly sweet finish, a touch of floral notes but really the hops are way too hidden for this to be an IPA. Just a very bland beer that would be hard to classify. Bleh, pass.

From the tap poured a golden brew with a little white head. Very nice floral aroma of hops. Nice balance of hop and malt flavor.

Draft. Pours a hazy yellowish color. Aroma and taste are citrus, pine, and some caramel.

Silphium (3198) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - AUG 11, 2014
Draft at the brewpub. Hazy medium yellow-brown body, medium tight off-white head. Citrusy nose with mostly orange and orange blossoms. Sharp, chewy, citrusy body with juicy citrus pulp and rind, neither orange- nor grapefruit-forward. Bready malts round out the body. Firm, bitter aftertaste.

Mild aroma and deep orange pour with a strong but balanced taste and solid mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Hopped, dry hopped, and unfiltered! I was surprised how much I liked this beer. The hops were great and the fruit finish was strong but mellow.

What Michigan Beer is all about. I absolutely love this stuff. I can’t believe more people haven’t tried it. If you are ever in the Tri-City area simply ask for it at your fav restaurant. They have a beer locator on their site too. Best Michigan Beer ever.

Draft. Nice caramel malt notes with pine and citrus hops. Murky amber hue with an off-white head that mostly diminished and left okay lace. Palate is medium bodied and watery with average carbonation. Overall the best brew from this brewery.
