Had this on tap this past weekend at the Great Alaskan Beer and Barley Wine Festival in Anchorage, AK. Colour... lightly cloudy dark golden. Nose... can you say, "HOPS, HOPS,HOPS?!!!". Holy jumpin’ up and down hop cones!! Palate... we’ll start off with a repeat of the above mentioned nose notes then follow it up with pine resin, grapefruit extractives, grapefruit pith and zest, sugar sirop, Fresca and Squirt concentrate and aged pine tar from Mr. Brett’s baseball bat. This is singularly THE best IPA I’ve ever had!!! Well done, MSBC!!!! thedm (6278) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - SEP 12, 2009
This bottled brew from JSquire, Hi Jeff, at a rating party poured a head of fine to medium sized off-white colored bubbles that were mostlu lasting and left behind a transparent uncarbonated orange brown colored body and a fair lacing. The complex aroma wasof deep hops. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The strong flavor contained notes of strong mildly vinous hops. A decent one that I would consider having again. redlight (2318) - Orlando, Florida, USA - AUG 10, 2009
thanks to Beerlando!
Huge grapefruit nose, piney aromas. Pours dark amber with a thin white head. Piney bitterness with hints of molasses, caramel malts. savnac (2391) - Anchorage, Alaska, USA - JUL 20, 2009
UPDATED: JAN 27, 2010 22oz bottle from 2007. Pours deep amber with an off white head that leaves some lace and some small floaters. Aroma is caramel, resinous pine, alcohol, and a bit of citrus. The flavor is a big sweet base that is cut with a long bitterness, there is a slight alcohol flavor. This is a thick medium to full bodied beer with a syrupy mouth feel and average carbonation. The huge malt base has helped this one age, the hops have lost their luster but the beer is still very enjoyable.
Re-rate on fresh 2009 bottle. Huge aroma of pine tar and citrus hops as well as caramel and alcohol. Very bitter taste and a bit hot. The aroma on a fresh bottle is amazing, although with age the hotness mellows out a bit. Both are good. TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - MAY 31, 2009
UPDATED: JUN 1, 2009 22 oz bottle courtesy of goldtwins. Pours a dark amber, some glowing orange notes, hazy, floaties, moderate offwhite head that laces well. Aromas show a lot grapefruit zest, lemon and floral, a bit depleted, caramel malts. Initial shows some strong hoppiness from the beginning, bitter with pine and grapefruit, fairly strong for an older brew, bitterness and pine stick to the palate very well. Caramel malts, good and sturdy, with some biscuity and toffee sweetness but the bitterness is very good in this brew. I would have loved to have tried this brew fresh, but the hops preserved this brew well. Still, a bit faded overall.

coppery golden brown colored pour with a big off white head and lots of sticky lace spots.
it smells crisp and green yet really sticky and caramel-y... grass, green hops, flowers and pine mix it up with caramel and rich toasty malts.
the flavor shows creamed grapefruit (if that’s even possible), orange pith and flesh, grass, a ton of soapy floral notes and lots of brown sugar caramel. it is painfully sweet yet crazy dry on the finish... still has some dry hoppiness kicking around.
this is medium bodied bordering on fat and thick from the residuals. it makes my teeth hurt...7/4/6/3/13/3.3

Really hoppy. Almost too much for me. Aroma of sticky pine and earthy hops. Taste has even more bitter hops and greapefruity hops. Hops bomb. riversideAK (6261) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - APR 2, 2009
Shared by dekruk at Liquid Sunshine I. My 143rd Imperial IPA rate! Lock it up! Beer pours a golden amber tone with a nice head and sticky lacing. Lots of pine and grass in the nose, some floral hops as well and a good deal of sweet caramel and bready malts. Big piney earthy bitterness up front, lots of smooth sweetness on the mid palate which then moves into a good lingering hop bitterness. Pretty enjoyable, I could only imagine this one on tap or out of a week old bottle. BOLTZ7555 (3027) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAR 29, 2009
Bottle acquired via trade with goldtwins...THANKS LARRY!!! Hazy lemon/tangerine color with a small ivory head that left a small amount of lacing. Aroma is caramel with herbal qualities. Flavor is all iced tea...definitely past its prime. Lost all three of it’s I’s P’s & A’s, unfortunately. Moderate carbonation and medium mouthfeel. Glad I had a chance to try this one. Bomber shared by BOLTZ7555 – thanks Jason! Pours a cloudy orange with some floaters and a one finger white head that leaves delicate lacing. The nose is caramel malt and sweet citrus hops. The taste is toffee, ripe citrus and light tart grapefruit cleaning it all up. Medium bodied – decent brew. Thanks again Jason!
