BeerandBlues2 (13304) - Escondido, California, USA - JUN 8, 2009
Bottle. Pours dark brown with a large, creamy, off-white head, mostly lasting with excellent, thick lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, toffee), light hop (grass), average yeast (earth, broth) with notes of figs, dates, apples, oak, wine, and vanilla. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a sweet, slightly dry finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness and acidity, light bitterness.

22 oz. bottle shared by thebaldwizard - thanks again, Muck, for sharing your dusty rotbox bottles! Pours a hazy dark amber with a small off-white head that settles into a ring. Notes of chocolate, dark and dried fruits, brown sugar, oak, earth, and cardboard. I think some nuance has been washed out of here with time. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a dry, sweet mouthfeel. Probably better several years ago but still pretty good.

Bottle sample at Muckfest VII on 6/17/17. Thanks Joe! Pours brown with a thick tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, booze and slight chocolate. Malt and caramel flavor with slight Belgian esters before a boozy finish. For supposedly being past its prime, it was tasting pretty nice.

JStax (6462) - Devola/Marietta, Ohio, USA - JUN 19, 2017
Bottle shared by MrMuck at Muckfest. The beer is a clear brown with a beige head of foam. Aroma has caramel, raisin, fig. Sweet and fruity. A bit of leather. Big body and moderate carbonation.

Bottle thanks to the wizard. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is oak, brown sugar, fig, booze. Medium body, dark fruit, caramel, oak, boozy finish, a bit oxidized but still very good.

SHIG (4962) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - NOV 25, 2016
Bottle thanks to Ryan for sharing at Anchorage tasting: Poured a caramel color with tan beige head. Aroma is sticky with malt caramel. Taste is sticky molasses and caramel. This thing has held up amazing over the years.

Westmeister (2129) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAR 9, 2015
HMOG 2015. Fun try given the age of the bottle. Some licorice, back strap molasses crept in and made this a tad harsh and overly sweet. Some vinous/dark fruits with lots of maltiness.

jrob21 (3684) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - MAR 4, 2015
Sample at HMOG. Lots of soy sauce and dark fruits. Flavor is intense sweet, gritty texture. Molasses and nuttiness in the flavor. Intense all around with super sweet and concentrated flavors.

Cybercat (5829) - Georgia, USA - MAR 3, 2015
Pours opaque brown with a creamy light tan head. Malty aroma has brown sugar overtone. Flavor has malty, molasses and sweet caramel notes. Maybe a bit too sweet for its own good - part but this is Venus, goddess of love! Firm, smooth texture has OK fizz.

4.2
Ughsmash (7508) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 27, 2014
2008 bomber. Poured a lovely shade of deep brown with a fairly short-lived toasted beige head. The aroma picked up a healthy dose of decadent maltage (biscuity notes, chocolate, and licorice joined by a host of lesser players) topped by warm vinous notes, a kiss of berries, honeysuckle, and peppery alcohol.. no doubt that this was large and in charge, but it somehow held its balance too! The flavor opened with tart vinous notes and oak plus spicy boozage.. licorice led across the middle, joined by rich biscuits and a little cocoa.. oak rounded out the belly-warming finish nicely.. a little oxidation showed up, but it left more of a dignified presence than anything. Heavy-bodied with filling carbonation on the palate.. creamy and almost buttery across the middle.. really great stuff!
