Close your eyes. The delicate aroma, flavor, texture of this beer whisper “witbier”. Now open your eyes. The color is deceiving. You take another sip. Yes, witbier … but black as night. It is something quite peculiar—BuT it is brilliant—something shimmering and

Pitch black coloured body with a nice brown glow at the bottom and a thin tan head. Aroma of yeast, wheat, coriander seed, roasted malt and a bit of sweet sugars. Medium-bodied; Assertive roasted malt, nuts, coriander seed, curacao, lemons and a touch of caramel sweetness - very nice, albeit hard to describe and lump into a single style. Aftertaste is quite complex with a lot of deep flavours and some strong malt tastes. Overall, a nice and very interesting beer that shows a lot of character. Great to try if you can find it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Brown Jug in Anchorage (Dimond Center), Alaska on 18-June-2011 sampled from my cabin in Denali, Alaska on 20-June-2011.

Clear brown color with a tan head. Dry dark roasted malt aroma with mild Wit brew spices. Medium body. Dry dark roasted malt flavors at first, then mild orange peel, earthy chamomile herb and coriander spices to finish. Pretty much a schwarzbrew with witbrew spices. Nice.

Thanks to Ira for another MSBC brew, poured into a tulip. Pours a deep, chocolate brown with a creamy off-white head that shows excellent retention and some spotty lacing. The aroma is almost like a chocolate-covered banana. It has plenty of dark roasted malts with a mild sweetness from the wheat, in the form of banana in the nose. There is a faint Belgian spiciness, but it’s not very prominent. The taste is a little different. It starts with the same chocolate malt and banana combo, but the more I sip, the more I get spices coming out. Maybe some coriander and white pepper. It definitely leaves a tingly feeling on the tongue. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and extremely lively on the palate with strong carbonation and spiciness working in tandem in the finish. A creative take on a witbier with the dark malts mixing well with the wit character. MSBC delivers again...ho hum.

Pours an almost black with a medium creamy deeper tan head that laced. Aroma of banana, toasted notes, light corriander and a touch of orange. Clove and light chamomile in aroma as well. Flavor of toasted malt, light corriander, some lemon, banana and wit yeast.

Bomber via trade thanks to akbeerfiend. Pours dark brown in color with a one-finger off-white head. Decent aroma - wheat, orange, coriander, and cherry (interestingly). The flavor has lots of cherry, as crazy as that is, and it’s a good thing. Wheat, Belgian yeast, spice, and mild roast as well. Medium body with a nice, fairly lively carbonation level. Interesting beer, pretty good.

22oz bottle shared courtesy of TomDecapolis. Poured a dark brown with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of coriander, toasty, citrus, and some wheat. Tastes of ciriander, citrus, toasty, and I was getting some chocolate in there.

Bomber - thanks Frank!! pours dense dark brown with thin tan head; wait, a black wit? is this a new style? aromas of light orange, yeasty spice, light roast; some yeasty sweetness with dried fuit, earthy notes, mild metallic note; coriander, fruit and nice yeast; decent overall though missing the mark of other brew crew needs

Bottle shared by Mike. Thanks Mike! Pours very dark brown almost black with off white head. Aroma is caramel and spices. Medium light mouthfeel. Flavors follows the nose. I typically don’t like beers with these spices. But this one wasn’t overdone. It was pretty good.

Had a bottle of this courtesy of "AKFaust". Colour... black with a thin off white head. Nose... highly acetic! Palate... thin, light CO2, some spice and hops and rather metallic finish.

Bottle. Pours a murky brune body with a yellow white head. Malty, caramel, hints of citrus, wheat, and light lemon grass. Orange peel, grain, thin and light caramel malt tones. Decent.
