My Bottom Line : 77ships (9638) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - FEB 21, 2016
Dark chocolate, caramel and bready cereals envelop this Imperial Stout’s resinous hop bitterness for a well-crafted albeit unremarkable sipper.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A veil of foam tops the blackness.
-Smoked? The smoke character is way too subtle to deserve a prominent mention on the label.
-Alcohol is well hidden by the rich sugars.
-Floral allusions are built by the hops.
-This is easy to sip on even though the mouthfeel is plump.
Bottle. Thx to whoever shared this at Coffee District!
Thank you for sharing Benzai! 650 ml. bottle shared @ RBBWG V. Black, small very dark mocha head. Nose is thick smoked varnish with umami notes coated in thick licorice, molasses, not really getting the bourbon in the nose. Taste is sweet thick licorice, bourbon, vanilla, thick molasses, syrupy, warming sugar, candy, viscous, light smoke in the finish & dash of sweet bourbon, low warming red wine. Lower carb. & thick molasses, touch vinous body. Delicious thick affair. tderoeck (9471) - Gent, BELGIUM - MAR 1, 2016

Clear dark brown to black beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: wow, yes, spot on! Very roasted, sweet notes, caramel, fudge, vanilla, chocolate. Lovely! MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, sugary, vanilla, lots of crème brulée, really lovely stuff. Aftertaste: little bitter, sugary, alcohol, lots of caramel, bit spicy, some ginger bread, sweet, alcohol, very impressive beer!
UPDATED: JUN 25, 2015 Bottle shared by a kind soul at RBWG. Pours a totally black color with a medium brown head. A sweet dark fruit, molasses and smoky nose. The flavor is a very nice Impy; massive smoke, loads of dark fruit, char, molasses, molasses, licorice, I was into this brew. Some hops later in the finish. Very nice, not overly smoked, but really good. Re-rate: I was lucky enough to drink this again thanks to Mike. The massive dark fruit and oily nature of this beer is almost on par with Expy. The smoke is subtle but contributes a ton. World class. czar (8996) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 23, 2015
pours unclear very dark brown, if not oily black, with a reviving crema cap, nicely lacing. fragrant smoky red fruitiness, red grapes - lots of red sine character, complex smoke and dense maltiness, olives, smooth bourbon, spices. light to low carbonation, medium to full body - oily; sweetish and vinous-spicy finish. exceptional..

22oz bottle from Superstar Beverage in Huntington. Pours a very thick, viscous black with some creamy, off white head. Nose has a ton of black licorice and molasses, hugely sweet, malt too, some mild smoke, some umami notes, plenty of booze too. Flavor follows right along, very thick, burnt caramel, molasses, liquid licorice, some anise, some smoke, pencil lead. Full bodied, thick, boozy finish. bytemesis (8226) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - AUG 22, 2015
2014 Bottle. Pours ultra inky black, medium black head, creamy with nice residual and lacing. May be the blackest head I have yet seen on a stout. Wow. The beer is one of those stouts that coats the glass as you swirl it, making you wonder how the hell you are going to get that thing clean afterwards. Aroma is really rich with the dominant characteristics being blackstrap molasses and cocoa powder, with some anise thrown in. Flavor is fairly sweet with a healthy balancing bitterness. Molasses and cocoa here too, plus anise and a light smokiness that could just be the heavy roast on the malts, honestly. Smoked is not the dominant part of the profile here. This is a rich rich beer, but in the end it hits the spot well. Surprisingly easy to drink for 12.6% abv. All y’all should get yourself some of this. Bottle thanks to hophead84. Pours with a black body with a medium sized, lasting tan head. Aroma is very strong, rich, vinous, smoke, dark fruits, chocolate and a hint of windex or some sort of chemical in the finish. Taste is big, very vinous, rich, dark fruits, and milk chocolate. Tons of raisins, dates and light smoke. Big bodied, creamy, heavy and intense. Interesting. kraddel (7783) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - FEB 27, 2016
