So it appears they are bringing this back, as this was a 2017 release. A quite flavorful beer, with some spruce noticeable. I believe it was labeled 9.5%. Surprisingly, though, this was pretty devoid of aroma, only real disappointment.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2017 Bottle, from the inner sanctum of the cellar of the infamous timmcd’s cellar. Utterly black gear oil, walnut colored head, sticky lace. Aroma malt, raisin, fig, black currant, burnt sugar, cookies, plums and cherries. Taste is cookies, jam, burnt sugar, cookies, currants, cherry pie, chocolate. The spruce comes in on the end, with a hint of resin and mint. Palate is rich, thick, carbonation soft, nitro-like. Unreal. Re-rate 2017 release, this is a ridiculously good imperial stout. Flavors of cookies and molasses and cherry cola, dark chocolate and coffee, figs and plums, with a touch of mint and honey.

Bottle thanks to Bill. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is a strong roasted malt, oak, vanilla. Medium body, sweet vanilla, light roast, wood, booze, and light dry finish. Very good.

The beer is black with a quarter inch of tan head. The aroma offers some light roast, hints of pine. Relatively light (at least compared to the other stouts we drank that day) with sufficient carbonation. Decent flavor - certainly drinkable and enjoyable. A tad sweet with some chocolate notes. Simple and straightforward. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 07-03-2012

651mL thanks to savnac. Near ink pour with a mega beige head. Creamy head with mega lace. Nose is spicy chocolate, vanilla, sweet cocoa, slight fruit. Some sweet berries. Taste is dry, bitter, a bit ashy/dirty. Still mega dry and ashy. Just not a lot of creaminess. Pretty abrasive. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle courtesy of GT2. Served in a Midnight Sun goblet. Pours near black with a good light tan head. No real lacing. Nose has a touch of spruce and pine with some chocolate and roast in the background. Flavor has some spruce and moderate roast. Bit of dark chocolate. Slightly bitter. Medium-full body. Pretty good.
