22oz bomber generously offered to me by SHIG. Thanks Shawn!!! It pours with a dark mahogany body the supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up brown sugar dusted plums, dates malts and molasses. Alright. The taste begins with brown sugar, molasses and then a modest tart note that seems kind of tannin kind of resiny hop bitterness and it shreds and crashes right into the smooth sweet goodness. To midway the fruity esters are noticed with plums and dates and ripe cherry sweetness. These flavors come together pretty darn well and I’m really enjoying this experience. I like it!

Clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige head, pretty stable, little adhesive. Aroma: sweet, caramel, pretty roasted (nothing Belgian about that), sourish touch. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: bitter start, bit sourish, roasted, fruity notes, earthy, some coffee. Aftertaste: alcohol, pretty roasted, bit sweet, banana peel, caramel, more alcohol, some coffee. This one held up very well, since it’s been brewed over 3 years ago! Not a touch of oxidation to be noticed, except maybe that slightly acidic touch?
Bottle from AKFaust. Colour... Very dark brown and cloudy. Nose...yeasty, wine-like, funky, raisiny. Palate...tangy, fruity, vinous with loads of funky raisin, dried cherries, Brooks prunes, blueberries, and an ever present funky tang. Noice (to quote the doc)! boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 14, 2013
Bottle @ a recent bottle share... Poured dark brown, quite dark, with a moderate forming tan head. This was a hit or miss at the tasting. But I liked it quite a bit. Red wine barrels did wonders to this, with all that thick, boozy, barley wine characters, the wood and vinous quality seemed to work well on my palate. Some malty notes, could definitely pick out wheated malts and spicy rye. Dark fruits like prunes or raisins, with wood too. Overall, not too bitter or boozy. Great drinking beer.

Bottle at brewery, dark brown beer, graham colored head. Aroma is raisin, malt, jintnof coffee. Taste is raisin, cherry, currant, caramel, molasses, touch of coffee. Palate is thick and rich, carbonation moderate. Nice barleywine, not too sweet. MikeJslc (778) - USA - MAR 16, 2013
Dark brown, tan head. Aroma of bready, nutty malt, some leather, grape, berries, oak, a little Brett note. Flavor features brown sugar, toasty malt, black cherries, grape, pretty pronounced red wine barrel character, some spicy phenols, warming alcohol. Pretty promising for its young age, will be interesting to see how it develops. A very good, complex, interesting beer right now. douglas88 (9195) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAR 16, 2013
Bomber thanks to Craig and Mike. Pours a deep ruby hue with a large brown thick creamy head. A rich vinous, woody, fruity nose. A strong wine influenced flavor, dry, sweet dark malts, cocoa, sour at times, very interesting. Odd, but i think this is very good. Great. Big cherries.
