Strong aromas of plum and chocolate. Unbelievably smooth for the alcohol level and barrel agings. Very full mouthfeel and great complex notes from the barrel. I loved this beer. 50belair (3680) - Florida, USA - SEP 8, 2011
Bottle. Black pour with a mocha head. Aromas of caramel malt, chocolate, and molasses. Black coffee, roasted malts, vanilla, caramel, booze, and oak. Scopey (15522) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 7, 2011
Bottle at Ang’s birthday tasting, thanks to Grant. It pours opaque black, with a thin dark tan head. The nose is salted caramel, chocolate, toasted coconut, alcohol, vanilla and coffee. The taste is coffee, caramel, coconut, vanilla, roasted malt, chocolate, bourbon and wood, with a light sweet, roasty finish. Full body, creamy mouth-feel and fine carbonation. Good balance and well executed. Leighton (22084) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 4, 2011
UPDATED: MAR 13, 2013 Bottle (2008 Vintage) shared at Craft Beer Co., thanks to Grant. Pours thick, dark brown with a beige head. Restrained roast aroma. Medium sweet flavor, lots of mocha, notes of hard alcohol and barrel, brownies. Great balance. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Mild warm finish, further restrained roastiness, cocoa, brownies. Excellent stuff.(4.4)MesandSim (7117) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 3, 2011
Bottle at Bruce’s, thanks to the host. Yeah, this is an awesome beer. Quite sweet but still very dynamic, not too hot. Very drinkable. Love it. (4.3)
A Mes rate. Bottle at Ang’s birthday tasting at the craft.

Yet another highly rated and sought after bottle that. I have to give huge thanks to Grant for. Amazing black body and thick pillowy tan head. Huge chocolate, gloriously roasty and some big fruity stuff. Sweet as you like, a touch of rubber and just generally big and black and assertive. A huge beer all round. Great stuff, there’s no doubt about that, but not worthy of the lofty status it has on rate beer.
UPDATED: SEP 5, 2011 Bottle on Angs birthday. Thanks to Grant Curlow. Some roasted malt. Its a good impy stout, very roasty, great smooth mouthfeel. On a night of lots of impy stouts, this one really stood out. jtclockwork (17101) - , New Jersey, USA - JUL 19, 2011
Bottle thanks to Kyle. Pours oily black. Tan head. Nose/taste of roast chocolate, maple, tobacco, molasses and vanilla. Sticky mouth feel. Full body. Warming alcohol. j12601 (13034) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - JUN 24, 2011
My love for you is like a truck. Bottle of the 2008 bottling shared by Derek. Pours a deep oily black with a small but remarkably dense deep tan head. Beautiful. Age is apparent, with some light soy sauce notes, lots of chocolate, roast and some sweet chocolate. Medium bodied, roast and more oxidization and paper. Still a good amount of chocolate and roast, more char and roast on the finish. deyholla (12038) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUN 21, 2011
2008 bottle thanks to Ben! Poured an oily black with a dark brown head that lasted throughout the beer, beautiful. Aroma was full of dark grains and roasted malts as well as a bit of dark fruit and some earthiness/whiskey. Flavor had a bit more earthiness with the dark grains and roasted malts and was complimented nicely by the dark grains in the finish. SpringsLicker (3666) - Tennessee, USA - JUN 2, 2011
Opaque black with a tan head.
Coffee and chocolate aroma.
The flavor follows the aroma.
A very good Imperial Stout but couldn’t keep up with the Old Hickory The Event Horizon that preceded it in the tasting.
