Bottle @ Papsø. Tasted blind. Pours pitch black with a creamy brown head and lacings. Sweet and roasted nose with coffee and chocolate. Smooth and full bodied. Vinous and quite ashy with a woody note. Lovely coffee profile. Nice Beerdrinker79 (2188) - Idaho, USA - MAR 27, 2010
22 oz. bottle- Pours pitch black with a perfect thick dark frothy tan head, lacing is mediocre, the aroma is coffee and bourbon. The flavor is outstanding, deep robust chocolate and coffee, mild Bourbon burn, and a sweet thick sweet syrupy flavor. This beer has an unmatched complexity that the other Midnight Sun beers were lacking. I didn’t think much of this brewery until this, one word-excellent. Sledutah (7718) - Utah, USA - MAR 27, 2010

Appearance: Pours black with a small dark tan head
Aroma: Dark malts, smokey, leather
Taste: Dark malts and dark fruits, oak and maple
Very nice Imperial Stout
Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of daknole. Pours an opaque black with a neat light brown head. Hard roasted malt in the nose and quite some alcohol. Solid body, hard roasted malt, a little wood and a vague smoky note. Some hard roasted malts in the finish, but not overly bitter. A very well balanced Imperial Stout. Neat. 270310 DigitalMan (193) - Idaho, USA - MAR 25, 2010

22oz bottle. Pours black with a quickly dissipating brown head. Aroma is of dark fruit, roasted malt, chocolate, syrup, bourbon, and wood. Taste starts off very chocalately. Has a big bourbon character, with lots of wood. Backbone of roasted malt. There is also caramel, dark fruit, and some tobacco. Very thick, heavy mouthfeel. Has a very dry lingering chocolate taste. Very boozy, but easy to drink given how heavy it is. Gets even boozier as it warms. I definitely enjoyed this one. GT (10000) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 23, 2010
22oz bomber- thanks to JCB for sharing! Whoa. Pours ink black- insanely dark with a small, deep brown head. Aroma is massive butterscotch, maple, dried meats, old world tar, molasses. Taste is smokey, roasty, bitter, black licorice, butterscotch. Very bitter aftertaste. Super full-bodied. Oily, coating mouthfeel. Just killed it! ajm (1072) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAR 18, 2010
Bottle trade with writerljberg. Thanks Luke! Color is jet black with a thick, beefy brown head. Nose is full of molasses, sweet tea, coffee, chocolate, and maybe some mild raisin. Flavor is huge with dark chocolate lined with malty molasses. Very lasting flavor with no dropoff in the finish. Smooth for 13%. This house makes good beer. bottle thanks to zinister who shared it at the January RB tasting. Pours black with brown bubbles instead of head. Nose is of chocolate and roast malts. Taste is of chocolate candy and a bit medicinal. Mouthfeel is medium and dry. JK (6192) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - FEB 25, 2010
Thanks to Levi for sharing this one. Unusual aroma of alcohol and beef jerky. Teriyaki in the flavor, with malt. Black beer, and even though I can smell the alcohol, there isn’t much of it in the flavor or the palate. Quite smooth.
