Bottle from South Bay Liquor: Created a thick 3 inches of fluffy head which looked like chocolate milk when you blow back and start creating a mess of bubbles. Aroma is putrid with a whiff of expired malts but somehow still allow for a scent of roasted down black malts that give off a hint of alcohol. The drink was initially tart and almost sour with sweet malts that have grown old and weary creating a stout that is a malty goopy mess but somehow still holds some roast flavor and a taste of old cold cheap cup of coffee. Flavor similar to the chocolate covered raisins. I have to rate this beer for what it is currently and not what it might have tasted about a year or two ago, so that’s why the scores are bit harsh. Pours a dark brown close to black and leaves the same colored body with an off-white close to tan one finger head that dies within a minute giving some thick lacing that starts to spider web after a minute; the aroma has some dark roasted malts, an adequate amount of coffee and chocolate combined nicely; the flavoring is sweet at times and somewhat bitter at other times, sticky yet chocolatey aftertaste, dry finish; the palate is not as easy as some may think but hey who’s arguing this is a Foreign/Export stout so it lives up to its style - medium to heavy, close to a sipper, carbonation is exceptionally smooth for a foreign/export stout, it really feels very well done, alcohol is not felt on the mouth or tongue, overall - wow what a great beer, I’d have this again, probably one of the better ones by Midnight Sun bleeng (1682) - Seattle still not near Beersel., Washington, USA - AUG 24, 2013

Rated in April 2012 (Backlog) - Black in color with a small off-white head. Aroma is heavy in roasted malts with coffee. Taste is the same. superspak (5790) - Michigan, USA - MAY 15, 2013
22 ounce bottle into snifter, no bottle dating. Pours pitch black color with a 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toast, char, floral, pine, and roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of roasted malt notes with moderate hops. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, caramel, toast, char, floral, light pine, and roasted earthiness. Moderate floral bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, toast, char, floral, pine, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic balance and complexity of roasted malt flavors; with nice hop bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation medium-full body; with a creamy, chalky, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic Export stout! All around great balance and complexity of roasted malt flavors with moderate hops; and very smooth to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering.

22 oz. bottle- Pours black with a nice creamy tan one finger head that reduces to a blanket. Aroma is chocolatey, roasted malts, coffee, all the trademarks you want in the style. The taste is creamy, chocolate and coffee again, good amount of hops imparting a dryness and mild bitterness, robust and stout like. Good, I always enjoy a good Foreign Stout and this is one. mikem409 (2027) - bloomfield, Michigan, USA - MAR 6, 2013

Pours dark black with a thick, frothy, cappuccino colored head that stays for quite a while.
Not much aroma on this one. Faint hint of baked bread and molasses. A little earthy aroma and some chocolate and coffee notes come through while drinking it.
Taste is malty sweetness up front with a wisp of grassy bitterness in the end.
Slightly thin mouthfeel for me, but overall still a nice beer.
