mcberko (19803) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 3, 2012
22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, toasted bread, espresso, and bitter chocolate. Flavour of bitter espresso, burnt / roasted malt, toasted bread and some caramel - quite dry, bitter and burnt. The flavour profile dissipates toward the end, leaving a rather empty palate, that is quite dry and burnt.

Mildish flavour; some toffee. Rather light, especially for frozen Alaska...

Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, and caramel. Thin mouth with sweet roast, dark chocolate, nutty malt, lingering dry finish, very good.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours black with a 3 finger foamy/creamy darkish tan head. Aroma is chocolate toffee. Full bodied. Flavor is chocolate, anise, toffee, coffee. It’s not exactly dry, but it’s quite bitter. So complex I have no idea what the bitter is from. But it is. Great taste.

"kinda halfway between an extra stout and an imperial. highly roasted aroma, with a nice balance op hops, chcoolate and coffee. nice brew, but overpriced for what it is, like most of MS bottles."

3.8
hopscotch (11409) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JAN 11, 2013
Bottle... Pitch black ale with a small, creamy, cappuccino head. Decent retention. The nose wafts milk chocolate and vanilla with a light pistachio component. Full-bodied and fatty with modest carbonation. The flavor features bittersweet dark chocolate and charcoal. Bitter, burnt, espresso finish.

daknole (11048) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JAN 20, 2012
Almost black. Beige head. Dry, roasty, burned toast aroma. Char, ash, roast and bitter chocolate.

3.4
phaleslu (10889) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 18, 2011
Draft sample at the Schlafly Repeal of Prohibition Festival. Pours a deep, opaque brown color with an inch-thick dark tan head that leaves some lace. Aroma of roasted malts, winter spices, rubber, phenolic notes, earth, and molasses. Flavor improves a bit, with bitter dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, brown sugar, nuts, caramel, and earth. Medium-bodied, with a phenolic mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Something is just off in this, but what is underneath that is a really nice beer.
