3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2010-07-18. Dark orange body, nice white head fades 3+ Flavour starts funny, interesting bit of resin, leafy touches, hints at citrus. 7+ Pleasantly hoppy aroma, alcohol soaked citrus, light resin, leafy notes. Alcohol grows as it warms. Average to medium bodied palate. Good, but it is a bit boozy, and the hop profile is not entirely to my own tastes. November 2009 Bottle from Belmont Station, Portland
July 18, 2010. 22oz bottle shared by jerc & mabel with me and blankboy. Hazy orange pour with an average off-white frothy head. Pungent catty/citrus zest aroma - right up my street! - a bit boozy, and oddly a tad lactic. The taste veers a bit to the left - leafy, boozy, dry roast malt, mint, appleseed bitterness - a bit aggressive. Thick, astringent mouthfeel, mild carbonation, a long deeply (but generically) bitter finish. Certainly a solid beer, but I fear I would not be able to drink a large quantity of it. Bottle: Pours a clear orange color with a nice big white head. The nose is big and sappy with some orange, pineapple and lots of grapefruit citrus notes. The flavor is lightly resinous with some pine and thin caramel notes towards the tail. The finish is nice and creamy with a light pale malt note and more crisp hops towards the end. Nice. jsquire (4599) - St. Marys, Ohio, USA - DEC 4, 2010
Deep golden color out of the bottle with a small off white head. Floral hoppy beer with some orange. There is some butterscotch and caramel sweetness in this beer with lots of orange peel hoppiness. There is a little soap in the finish. This is not my favorite of the Obliteration beers. mabel (9787) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 3, 2010
[3143-20100718] 650mL bottle. Lemon orange pips aroma has a hint of dustiness. Slightly hazy, dark orange body with a medium-lasting creamy white head and some lacing. Thick bitter resin hops flavour has a lingering herbal hops note. Full body seems stronger with its booziness. Pretty good.

Overheard: "Ok, I’m going to make eye contact with you... and then I’m going to bite you."

This beer is almost a year old, However it is still very good as a beer. Certainly it would have been different fresh but I’m still greatly enjoying it as more of a Barleywine. Hazy murky orange, sudsy beige head. Aroma of soap, pine, dark fruit, malt. Taste is quite bitter but has thick malt sweetness also. Very flavorful, doesn’t have the oxidized hop taste I’m used to in old DIPA/IPA’s.

Bottle [22oz] shared with HogTownHarry, jerc & mabel -- c/o j&m. Pours a hazy orange-copper with an average size diminishing frothy off-white head. Aroma: Oh yeah, that’s hoppy and resiny along with a good amount of malt in the back. Very hoppy flavour with a very bitter finish, quite resiny and a bit spicy. Average to medium bodied. Very good stuff. JoeTheYounger (1195) - Lake Arrowhead, California, USA - JUL 12, 2010
Golden color nice head. Aroma was very interesting for an IPA (kinda like vegetables with some tropical notes). Taste was very bitter with a nice malt backbone. Pretty good. Hophead22 (2879) - Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA - JUL 12, 2010
22oz bottle shared by JoeTheYounger. Rating #54. Nice orangish pour. Lots of nice hops in the aroma, kind of a garlic-green onion thing going on as well, but very minimal and didn’t detract for very long. Flavor was the same, but without the garlic onion thing, very tasty otherwise. (1291) mspindler (489) - Alta Loma, California, USA - JUL 11, 2010
Bottle. Pours a hazy golden with a thin white head. Aroma is unique to say the least. Mangoes with floral notes and maybe a hint of garlic? Flavor is very bitter but balanced with some sweetness. Lots of pine and tropical fruit. Full bodied, low carbonation.
