Been sitting on this for a long time. I think it came from DarkElf. Pours mahogany with some floaties and a tan head. Smells of pronounced smoke, some caramel, breaddy, earthy. Tastes of smoke, some caramel, some rosey hints, lots of earthiness on the finish. Great beer! Maverick34 (3246) - New York, USA - MAR 17, 2007
It’s like drinking a smoked sausage - which is not as bad as it sounds. Pours dark, lots of head, taste is sweetish. OldGrowth (3474) - the Containment Area, North Carolina, USA - AUG 28, 2006
Bottle, from juzy & Timmcd64. Good nose, smokey sweet. Charred wood, maple, caramel. Lost a little as it warmed. Clean brownish orange color, I left small amount in bottle that had sediment. Little to no head, no lace. Sweet flavor. Maple, smoke, peat. ABV still has bite. Medium body, oily slick mouthfeel, Sweet finish. Nice brew, I was surprised at it’s bite. thanks juzy & Timmcd64 for this limited release. Walt (2449) - Austin, Texas, USA - JUL 31, 2006
Thanks EDA!...Pour is brown with a thin tan head...smell is smokey and rosty too...definately overly sweet...smoke not overpowering though... Sickboy282 (1114) - San Diego, California, USA - JUL 20, 2006
Pours a brown amber hue with a halo of a tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, smoked salmon. Flavors of the same with a light hop bitterness with leather and smoke.

Bottle. Deep copper brown in color with a small head. Smokey caramel aroma. Sweet smokey flavor. Caramel notes. Finish is sweet. Nice hop bite. Well balanced. Smokey. Smooth. Nice beer. Eyedrinkale (3214) - Astoria, New York, USA - JUL 16, 2006
Brown with a small head. Aroma is smoked caramel. Taste is a nice balance of sweetness, smokiness and caramel. Thank god there is a decent hop bite or it would be a sickeningly sweet mess. The only knock is too much caramel to distract from a nice thick smoke taste. CaptainCougar (7133) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - APR 24, 2006
Pours a transparent ruby mahogany with a nice, thin tan head. Sweet, smoky liquid caramel aroma has a nice authentic German bock yeast character. Starts with a sweet viscous dark caramel maltiness and lots of nice smoke notes with an authentic bock flavor. Very nice beer that reminds me a lot of Bells Batch 5000. beerbuzzmontreal (3487) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 20, 2006
Pours a clear ruby color with a ring of light brown lace. Very good aroma of smoked and roasted malt, toffee and fruits, very appealing. Excellent flavor of smoked and roasted malt, toffee and fruits, the malt is thick and rich, almost decadent. The body is light to medium with a smooth and oily texture and a gentle carbonation. This is excellent, everytime I try a new Midnight Sun beer I’m always impressed and amazed. tiggmtl (4544) - East York, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 20, 2006
Smoked fish, cherries and cocoa blend together bizarrely well in the thick and alluring aroma. Clear brown body is topped by a low, off white head that recedes rapidly to ring. Big malt base with plenty of residual caramel sweetness that is cut nicely by a perfect hop level that keeps this from being cloying without taking away the spotlight from the smoke character which is wonderfully encompassing without overpowering. Occasional wafts of alcohol. Medium body and sticky texture are a bit syrupy due to somewhat low carbonation. Bottle (2005 vintage) sampled with beerbuzzmontreal, Goldorak, MartinT, muzzlehatch, Olivier_MTL, Rastacouere and Siroy.
