Draft: Poured thick black with a light brown creamy head. Aroma bourbon, oak, rich malts. Taste is nice rich malts creamy to the tongue with bourbon wood edges that livens the tongue. Alcohol finish that seems warming to the palate.

On tap @ Encinitas Ale House. Black in color with a tan head. Aromas are not terribly good. Lots of roasted malt, smoke, and plastic. Some coffee, oak, and a hint of acidity. Flavor is really kind of funky. Acidic coffee, blue cheese, and char. Mild smoke and plastic. Hint of cacao. Not good.

Pours deep sable with tan head. Aroma has strong molasses, maple syrup and woody bourbon tones. Roast malt core of the taste supports bourbon, molasses and maple notes quite well. Texture is quite viscous and fairly fizzy.

Draft @ MS. Clear near black with a thick creamy tan head. Aroma of bourbon, chocolate, molasses, oak and coffee. Flavor of fruity bourbon bitter-sweet chocolate, dry oak and light alcohol warming. Medium to full body with a smooth soft mouth feel. Pretty good, really oaky.

Bottle from Percy’s in Juneau. Nose is like a foreign stout - raw and punchy - mildly fruity hops, toffee malt, some coffee-notes. Flavor is super roasty - roasted malt notes all around - very nice. I’ll opt for a cuppa this on a rainy evening.
