COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Clear chestnut brown with a small baige head. Caramel malt aroma, nuts and alchohol, little vinouse. Nice balanced sweet alchoholic flavor, light bitterness. Not too complex, but wellbalanced and smooth for a 10 abv

[Sampled with the duo Svoger & Svogergylp at DØE, Valby, 2009.] Barleywine for everybody. In my eyes many barleywines are too much challenging or just not good enough, although I like the style. Thisone is great with mellow mouthfeel and a very wellbalanced mix of flavors. Notes of warming alcohol. dried fruits, caramel, positive bitterness, port, fullfillness. All very welldone. My next speech will be with thisone!

ej (1330) - Hauglandshella, NORWAY - APR 24, 2014
Pours a coppery colored with a small head. Aroma of oxidised caramels. Sweet with dark fruits. Taste is sweet malts and liquified dates. A very faint metallic hint, probably due to the oxidation. Full bodied with soft co2.

esox (1225) - Oulu, FINLAND - DEC 11, 2010
Hazy ruby colour, thin but creamy head. Raisiny fruitiness with rich and creamy caramel, some herbal hops in the nose. Some booze when cold. Caramelly sweet flavor, sweet fruits, low bitterness. Raisiny, caramelly and heba finish with some alcoholic warmth. A bit thin maybe. Oily texture, low carbonation. Nice BW, not excellent.

puren (1211) - Gdańsk, POLAND - DEC 12, 2016
OCZY: klarowne, głęboko ciemnobursztynowe, symboliczna piana znika wraz z końcem nalewania;
NOS: pieczone jabłko, cukier trzcinowy, słodki agrest, likier z pomarańczy i brzoskwini, miód akacjowy, nuta herbaciana, retronosowo spirytus;
USTA: ciało wysokie, średnio nasycone, lekko puszyste, przyjemnie grzeje, ale nie gardło, a trzewia, leciutko zakleja ślinianki;
JĘZYK: słodkie - herbata z miodem, cukier trzcinowy, spirytus, biszkopcik, karmel, lekka krótka drewniana goryczka ;
OGÓLNIE: przyzwoite piwko, wydaje mi się, że zamyka się w stylu, jednak po BW można oczekiwać więcej; minusem jest przebijający się a w dodatku niefajnie spirytusowy alkohol.

Bygers (1185) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 16, 2014
Bottle 0,5l. Pours a slightly hazy darkish amber colour with an off-white head. Clear aroma of fruit, malt, yeast and caramel. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, with fruity and estery touches and pronounced, bitter alcohol notes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

espenra (1017) - Kurland, NORWAY - JUN 17, 2011
50cl bottle at Håndverkerstuene. Best before 2012-09-02. Amber orange colour wirh a very small head. Aroma is very sweet and malty. Lots of caramel, brown sugar and malt in the aroma, but also fruity. The alcohol is also prominant as you would expect in a barley wine. Flavour is sweet with almost no bitterness. Alcohol and bitterness is very well hidden. There is some alcohol, but it’s soon replaced by the sweet flavours of malts, brown sugar, fruityness and caramel notes. This is a scary beer as you don’t notice the alcohol before the end of the bottle and your head is suddenly woozy. Subtle, but lingering aftertaste.
