COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Maria (10212) - Thisted, DENMARK - AUG 17, 2009
It is hazy, red-brown with a beautiful, creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, raisin, plum and figs. The flavour has sweetness and notes of roasted malt, raisin, plum, caramel, figs, bread, light citrus and alcohol. The body is full and smooth, but IMO it could have been a bit more detailed and most of all, less sweet.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Pours dark amber with a big frothy white head. Aroma of grainy and bready malts, light hops and alcohol. Taste is sweet malty, light burning alcohol sweetness as well, lingering sweet. Full bodied. A tad too sweet.

czar (9076) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - APR 7, 2014
(small gusher) pours hazy medium dark golden, red tint, with a small off-white cap, some retention and lacing. intense barley sugar, toffee and caramel, very fruity - sweet brandied fruits, calvados, grass, pepper, chalk, hint of garbage notes. warming alcohol. moderate carbonation, medium body - oily and sticky, mild minty-grassy-peppery finish. sweet if not cloying offering. unbalanced but still a nice sipper.

50cl bottle form Bierzwerg pours with a crystal clear copper body that supports a thin light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up lots of sweetness coming from notes like caramel, white chocolate, sugary toffee, blue wacky taffy and a bit of nuttiness. Intriguing, I get very little if any dark fruity esters. The taste is a big hit of sweetness that’s a lot like the nose where caramel, white chocolate, toffee, wacky taffy and then it slides into a light degree of brown sugar coated prunes and figs. Interesting stuff but it seems the esteriness could be a bit more forward to add more balance.

Svesse (8600) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - OCT 31, 2010
(Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 9 Oct 2010) Reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of red berries, caramel and vinous hints of alcohol. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, red berries, sweet and vinous finish with a spicy bitterness. Almost full body, fairly sweet with warming alcohol. Nice barley wine, possibly a bit boozy.

laiti (8469) - Tampere, FINLAND - JAN 26, 2013
50 cl bottle @ olio, BBE 15.03.2014
Aroma is stale with berries, some vanilla, caramel and biscuits. Flavour has nettles, berries typical to danish ales, some caramel and gooseberry bush. Too much berries here, decent.
