COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

[Sampled with the duo Svoger & Svogergylp at DØE, Valby, 2009.] Barleywine for everybody. In my eyes many barleywines are too much challenging or just not good enough, although I like the style. Thisone is great with mellow mouthfeel and a very wellbalanced mix of flavors. Notes of warming alcohol. dried fruits, caramel, positive bitterness, port, fullfillness. All very welldone. My next speech will be with thisone!

Deep honey color with a tiny head. This is all raw honey! The aroma is pretty much nothing else and you’d think you were smelling a honey jar if you were blindfolded. Not so overwhelming in the taste but still has a huge presence, along with some fruits and caramel. I quite like it!

Beautiful deep amber, lively carbonation, fine head. Dark fruit, wood and vinous aroma. Lovely flavour, too. Prunes, port, nuts and oak. Sweet and dry.

Draught: Small vast yellow ish head, that disappears very slow. Very hazy amber/orange colored beer. Smell fruit, orange, malts, caramel, light toasted malts, barleys. Smells good. Taste is even better: sticky barleys, sticky malts, some sweets like caramel, some light brown sugars, herbs, light bitter and the slightest hint of honey. Nice (sticky) barley/malty light bitter/herby aftertaste. Low carbo, soft mouthfeel, full body and an oily sticky thick creamy texture. Delicious beer, well balanced and smooth.

Bottle. Pours caramel brown with beige head and some lacing. Aroma is all about barley and caramel. Same for the taste, which goes along some hints of hops. Sweetness is well balanced. Alcohol well hidden despite ABV. Thick mouthfeel. Some warming alcohol. Excellent BW!

Clear dark amber brew with a small off-white head that lasts long. Aroma is malty, with some presence of ripe fruits, some oak as well and some slight alcohol. Hoppy notes as well. Realy nice nose. Taste is syrupy sweet with a clear touch of its aroma. Pretty autumn-like if you ask me with clear notes of the fruits and the hops. Some caramel, raisins, honey, oak as well with a nice grassy bitterish and warming end which has some dryish notes in it, despite being largely sweet. Truly an interesting aspect of this enjoyable, tasty rich brew. Full bodied, mouthfeel is pretty sticky and syrupy. Carbonation is quite low. Beautiful deep, well-balanced brew that is tasty in every way. Good sipper for the darker days of the year. Has some great ageing potential as well, which I will definitely do with a next bottle.
