UPDATED: JUL 14, 2014 Bottled at Sir Club. Amber with a small white head. Aroma of malt, mostly caramel and bready notes. Quite sweet malty flavour, with some alcohol. A few years ago, I wrote that it might improve with age. Now, it has improved simply by becoming a.much better beer.... yngwie (17038) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JUL 9, 2009
UPDATED: APR 28, 2010 Bottle, at Copenhagen Beerfestival. It’s a clear, dark brown beer with a decent beige head. Slightly herbal nose with hints of DMS, caramel and roasted malts. Alcohol, sweetness, caramel, roasted malts, some herbal notes and a pleasant bitterness. Warming and full-bodied, with a bitter and sweet finish. Well, not my idea of a Barley Wine, but sure drinkable. Rating: 6-4-6-4-13-3.3. 090517Defreni (3153) - Husum, DENMARK - AUG 20, 2009
Bottle. It pours a nice, dense, beige head that has a good longevity and leaves nice lacings. The body is slightly hazy, and reddish dark brown in color. It has a nice aroma with resiny, citrusy hops over a foundation of sweetish, malty hops leaving dried fruits and some caramel. A hint of licorice and cellar lurks in the back. In the mouth it’s full-bodied and smooth, some warmth from the alcohol also shows up, especially in the very end. There’s dried fruits, some caramel and hints of licorice in the flavor, as well as a good citrusy, resiny hop impact leaving a balancing bitterness. Overall, a pretty good beer that should be more pronounced. On the other hand, it’s dangerously easy to drink the way it presents itself now. 20100428

Hazy dark marhogny with a small beige head. Aroma: Barley, bread, sugar, plum, raisin, yeast, maybe a little chocolate, alc. Taste: sweet, burning alc,, but ok balanced by the bitterness. A little too sweet, but still a good and complex beer. sayravai (4710) - Helsinki, FINLAND - OCT 10, 2009
(Bottled) Hazy dark ruby with a small, firm and tanned head. Sweet and grainy, very malty aroma with lots of creamy toffee and a touch of strawberry. Flavor is sweet and biscuity-malty with (straw)berries, toffee, cream, dried fruit, and some smooth-n-warming alcohol. Quite full body, thick and creamy mouthfeel with low carbonation. A somewhat sweet and straightforward, but clean and enjoyable barley wine. skortila (5793) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - NOV 18, 2009
Bottled. Aroma has caramel malts, raisin, some bread/rye and toffee. Hazy, red-brown coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is sweet, bit vinous, quite malty (caramel/toffee, raisin). Good body. okay beer. Rune (12587) - Tromsø, NORWAY - MAY 17, 2010
About 100ml poured from a bottle. Ring around the rim of the glass atop of a deep, dark amber body. Vinous aroma of dried fruits. Jam-like flavour with raisin, apricot and other dried fruits joined by sweet dark malts. Dry warming alcohol. Well bodied. Should be a great sipper. Very sweet, though (CBF, 06.05.2010). larsga (7508) - Oslo, NORWAY - OCT 23, 2010
Medium beige head. Deep dark red body. Syrupy fruity papery aroma with floral caramel and earth notes. Dry-sweet earthy floral fruity taste with roasty sherry and paper notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, faintly hot mouthfeel. Dry earthy fruity wild berry aftertaste with toffee floral musty notes. There are also smoky ash notes. It’s fairly sweet. Delicate, harmonic, and subtle, but slightly unfresh and musty. Still a great beer. (0.5l bottle, Fish and Beer, Copenhagen.)
