Pours really really dark brown with a brown head. Aroma is somewhat shy but full of coffee notes and spices. Mouth is fresh and far from heavy, which is really nice for a porter of that strength. Flavors are again coffee, roasted malt and I’m starting to get the licorice now. Silky smooth, it goes down too easily, really. More complex than your average porter it is quite enjoyable, a mighty good one I should say!

Copenhagen 4/10-2017. 50 cl bottle from SuperBrugsen. Says on the label that this is a cooperation between Midtfyns and De Molen. A big X - probably to ensure I understand that this is X-rated beer. Pours opaque dark deep brown with beige head. Settles as thin layer of foam. Moderate lacing. Aroma is strong and rich. Dark chocolate, licorice, sherry and slightly sugary. Light carbonation and thick oily palate. Flavor is heavy sweet with medium bitterness for balance. Aftertaste has stronger bitterness and more sweetness. Very nice porter who packs a punch.

Pours a huge thick frothy, creamy beige head that stays for a while and settles to a nice inch of thickness. Almost pitch black appearance. Aromas of chocolate, mocha, and coffee with subtle hints of caramel and toffee. Alcohol is fairly noticeable with flavours of dark chocolate, roasted malts, more toffee and mocha as well as earthy and resin hop notes. Slick and creamy sensation with a chalky and mildly warming mouthfeel. Very good porter, smooth and easy drinking brew.

Black dark with a medium tan head. Aroma of chocolat, som coffee and roasted malt. Taste of coffee, chocolate and som liquorice.

A deep dark porter, viscous, with a thin dark brown head. In aroma, a nice chocolate malt with light licorice, alcohol warmth, grassy hops, very nice. On, sweet chocolate malt with light licorice, light vanilla, alcohol warmth, very nice and smooth. Bièropholie imports.

GothGargoyle (2588) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 19, 2017
Deep brown/black with a small tan head and a little viscosity. Aroma is dark chocolate, bourbon, buckwheat honey, roasted sesame, dark fruits. Full bodied, velvety mouthfeel, sweet and sticky on the palate with a long, subtly fruity finish. Taste is prunes, raisins, chocolate, honey, fig. Tasty!

Jimbo2 (553) - DENMARK - JAN 29, 2017
Soft and slightly sweet porter, fairly low carbonation, good mouthfeel. Not quite a classic De Molen, but a very good Midtfyns Bryghus.

500ml bottle, best before 2015-08-04. Dink on 2013-10-25. Pour black with some reddish notes, nice tick tan foam head that last. Aroma of caramel, liquorice and notes of chocolat. Taste is the same as the above, nice balance of sugar and lactose. Palate is rich for the style but really enjoyable. Long rich finish. Same batch drink on 2016-12-06, 8-4-8-4-16. So almost 5 years and almost a year and a half pass due the BB date. Kept in a dark controlled environment at 14 degree celsius. Aroma is a bit rounder, taste is also a bit more prononce on the liquorice side. Carbonation is well preserved and no sign of maderisation. Great aging potential confirmed.

Bottle. Black pour with deep reddish hue, thick foamy moka foam. Aroma is very fruity, tons of black licorice, cocoa, light fruity notes, candied fruit, light roast, euro dark malt. Taste is bitter, roasty, vegetal, licorice root/star anise, sassafras root. Palate is med-full bodied, dry, light booziness, not unpleasant, strong carb. Good.

Aroma; roasted black malts, liquorice, grassy hops. Look; black body with brown edge, light brown head. Taste; liquorice, cough mixture, roasted dark malts, hoppy prunes - leading to a prune liquorice finish with black chocolate. Feel; solid, warming. Overall; liquorice porter.
