COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: The Double IPA is an American inspired, dark amber beer with a beautiful light coloured head. The brewer has chosen to dry hop this IPA which adds to the full and complex hop profile of Cascade, Chinook and Centennial. The IPA has a very full body, with a soft yet strong flavour and a very bitter finish - the result has to be experienced. Goes with spicy dishes, but is best enjoyed on its own.

Embrouille (2843) - SWITZERLAND - DEC 16, 2008
Bottled 50cl. Appearance. It pours a hazy deep peach colored beer with a small light beige head. Not much lacework. Aroma. Pine needles, licorice, homemade caramel, sorbet, old cigarette smoke, grapefruit, pineapple and nasturcium. Flavor and palate. A lot of grapefruit, homemade caramel, pine needles and licorice in the taste. Rather salty. Nice hop profile. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Nicely balanced. Peppery. Reminiscent licorice, grapefruit and nasturcium in the finish which is salty and very dry. Overall impression. I enjoyed this beer s flavor much more than its aroma. Thanks a lot bov for this beer.

BMan1113VR (7917) - Los Angeles, California, USA - DEC 12, 2008
Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Marked as best before December 13, 2009. Not really a DIPA in my book, maybe a English barley wine. Pours with a light brown head that sticks and a hazy brownish body. Aroma of grainy brown sugar, marzipan and light raspberries. Taste is husky with sweet malt and molasses. Syrupy mouthfeel, light bubbles.

caesar (6854) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - OCT 21, 2008
Bottled. Hazy copper color, short off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, some hop, slight spicy. Slight bitter taste, very malty, some sugary sweetness, cane sugar. Finishes more bitter. Does not remind of a IPA, but more a barley wine maybe.

Stale and dark cloudy with white foam. Almost sweet, but no dryness or bitterness one might expect from a beer. Not nearly rich enough for a beer of 9.5 %.

Pours clear and reddish amber with a nice off white head with medium to slightly low head retension. Aromas of malts, some roasted, mellow round hops in the direction of warm pieapple and resin with notes of apple cellar, spices and butter (probobly from an English ale/bitter yeast strain). No volatile alchoholic aromas, despite the pretty high ABV. Quite full Burton’ish, minerally mouthfeel. The roasty malt and butter really comes through in the taste together with some caramel and warm, almost a bit cooked fruityness. Also slightly salty... The hops stay in the background in the taste exept for a slight warm, fruity attack. Medium length. Quite a special double IPA... Kinda like it though. Wee heavy meets ESB meets English IPA?

courtesy of Per Forsgren - cloudy reddish colour with an elusive pale beige foam; aroma of grapefruit and pineapple with a touch of disinfectant; fresh and rounded palate, medium-bodied with a bitter and fairly salty finish; lingering notes of melon in a quite long aftertaste
