3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bought at Vinmonopolet Tromsø Sentrum. Dark brown body with an off white, almost beige, creamy head. Nice roasty and grassy aroma mixed with sweet malts. Coffee and dark chocolate in the finish with earthy tones. Quite good!
Gleipner is a black and nice frothy IPA, which smells of fresh citrus. Light roasted malt, dark chocolate, a little ripe berries and coffee notes spoil the tongue in a gentle manner, while its strong hops form a lengthy and tasteful richness. It surprises me that it has a little more than 9% alcohol, I had not looked at the label after before I opened the bottle. Percentages are well hidden away among its massive hops shades, but does certainly not inferior. Delicious, rich and constantly filled with small surprises in hops composition. Semi-dry aftertaste and a truly magnificent IPA. rouhlas (3981) - Thessaloniki, GREECE - AUG 31, 2015

My favorite black IPA, no contest. Midtfyn is one of my absolute favorite breweries, and some of their beers, including this, in my top 20. This beer gives you such hoppy pleasures it just has to be experienced. I love the use of norse mythology. Gleipner was the rope or chain that held the wolf Fenris. The god of war, Tyr, lost his arm putting the chain around the still young Fenris neck. The chain was made from impossible things. I think the brewer must have had access to some of those impossible things, but is it the roots of mountains or the loud sound of kittens that helped this beer become and instant classic? Or was it a more mundane use of the right hops? You decide. Beerhunter111 (23265) - Beerland, GERMANY - MAR 16, 2014
Ins Glas ergießt sich ein sehr dunkelbraunes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr röstmalzig, schokoladig, Kaffee, hopfig bitter. Geschmack röstmalzig, bittere Schokolade, Kaffee, fruchtig herb, bitter. daje (4548) - NORWAY - MAR 5, 2014
Bottle. Black color with a small beige head. Aroma is vineous with roasted malt, toffee and grapefruit. Taste of coffee, sweet chocolate, and a light fruity kick. Sweet licorice in swallow, missing some hops for a bipa, the aftertaste has a slight citric touch together with coffee and licorice. bjerkeaa (185) - NORWAY - FEB 14, 2014
Dark brown pour with tan head. Inital aroma is a mixture of babypowder and coca beans. Don’t know if that is an off-taste or not. Texture is oily, while body is medium. Taste is like a quality coffee stout, but withhout the stamina. Temptation (257) - - JAN 9, 2014
Great looking, which matches with the quality of the beer. Aromas combine to the perfection the coffee-ish and smoky notes from the roasted malts and the hoppy traces. The mouthfeel is inclined to the hops, creating a very well balanced beer, robust but elegant. A prodigy of balance, an excellent beer.
