Voted best new beer 2007 by the Danish Society of Beer Enthusiasts.

English: Imperial Stout is a dark and rich beer with a beautiful dark cream coloured head. It’s brewed from several types of roast malts and conditioned on oak, which adds to the heavy body. The Imperial Stout has a strong and growing aftertaste of coffee, bitter chocolate and vanilla. Suited for game, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts. Or may be enjoyed alone in a cognac snifter in front of the fireplace.

A long-lasting, elegant, homogeneous tan head lives above the clearish dark brown. Not all that close to black in colour, but that does not keep it from proposing a roast-focused aroma playing the dark chocolate and coffee tune accompanied by a confident, forward liquorous alcohol. Call it a coffee liquor if you will. Relatively lean palate for the genre, not without love handles, but far from the syrupy examples that abound nowadays and never overly sugary. Has a spicy kick (anise, woodsy, black pepper) which I have trouble figuring whether it comes from its otherwise subtle hops or some kind of alcohol-phenolic side effect. Not very punchy in terms of hop flavours, yet a very bitter example, for its bitterness hops, of course, but perhaps more especially for its dark espresso-like roasted malts, sharper than in the vast majority of impys out there. A very competent example, perhaps lacking in fruit to fit my very personal preferences for strong roasty ales, but cohesive and flawless.

Kolor: Ciemny brąz. Pod światło widać, że trunek jest klarowny.
Piana: Niewielka, ciemnokremowa o drobnej strukturze.
Początkowo palone nuty ciemnych słodów przechodzą w coraz to silniejszą owocowość. Ciemne owoce przewodzą (ciemne winogrona, wiśnie). W kontrze do nich nuty toffi, karmelu i rodzynek.
Słodki profil smakowy i czekoladowo-kakaowy finisz.
Wysycenie: Niskie / Średnie.
Podsumowanie:
Imperial Stout z duńskiego browaru Midtfyns Brygus zdobywał szereg nagród na różnych festiwalach europejskich. Między innymi: Best New Beer in Denmark 2007 European Beer Star - Gold Aword 2015 European Beer Star - Consumers Favourite Silver Aword Winner 2015 Piwo jest ewidentnie słodowe z mocnymi elementami karmelu, kakao, ciasteczek maślanych, czekolady i ciemnych owoców.

500ml bottle @ home. Batch No. IS0002. Pours a rich opaque black with small tan head. Nose is earthy, roasted malt, and a sweetness. Flavour is upfront sweet, that lends way to a roasted and earthy flavour. The sweetness is raisin, plum, fig like. Medium bodied, and it is very well balanced through and through. Almost would consider this a desert imperial stout... very tasty brew.

Piwo w kolorze czarnym nalewa sie z niezbyt obfita lekko bezowa drobnopecherzykowa piana. W aromacie czekolada, kakao i troche alkoholu. W smaku dochodzi troche palonosci i sliwek. Polpelne cialo z niskim wysyceniem i goryczka na srednim poziomie.

Botle 0,33l. Taste of caramel, burnt sugar, a bit of liquorice, and alcohol. Mouthfeel is appropriately heavy, and the alcohol is maybe noticeable, but it’s also extremely drinkable. Nice stuff.

Bottle. Opaque brown -black pour with thin brown head. Aroma is very chocolaty, powdered cocoa, fruity, light booze. Taste is bitter, very chocolate forward, not too dry for a Euro stout, really nice chocolate flavor. Palate is med-full bodied, a tad light for style, nice carbonation. Tasty.

Really nice chocolety aroma with notes of red wine, plums and a touch of coffee in the back. It’s super pleasant, might be a bit thicker though. Similar in taste, very rich, lot of different ‚dark’ flavours with pleasant roasted bitterness in the end. Mouthfeel is a bit disapointed. I was expecting much heavier body. In overall - very good stout.

Bottle 0,50L. Courtesy of Gregor. Clear, very dark, ruby brown color with average big, creamy, light brown head. Aroma of ripe dark fruits, caramel, peach & pear, roasted malts. Taste starts light sweet, caramely, dark fruits and finish medium bitter, chocolatly and vanilla like. Excellent imperial stout!
