English: Imperial Stout is a dark and rich beer with a beautiful dark cream coloured head. It’s brewed from several types of roast malts and conditioned on oak, which adds to the heavy body. The Imperial Stout has a strong and growing aftertaste of coffee, bitter chocolate and vanilla. Suited for game, strong cheeses and chocolate desserts. Or may be enjoyed alone in a cognac snifter in front of the fireplace.

A long-lasting, elegant, homogeneous tan head lives above the clearish dark brown. Not all that close to black in colour, but that does not keep it from proposing a roast-focused aroma playing the dark chocolate and coffee tune accompanied by a confident, forward liquorous alcohol. Call it a coffee liquor if you will. Relatively lean palate for the genre, not without love handles, but far from the syrupy examples that abound nowadays and never overly sugary. Has a spicy kick (anise, woodsy, black pepper) which I have trouble figuring whether it comes from its otherwise subtle hops or some kind of alcohol-phenolic side effect. Not very punchy in terms of hop flavours, yet a very bitter example, for its bitterness hops, of course, but perhaps more especially for its dark espresso-like roasted malts, sharper than in the vast majority of impys out there. A very competent example, perhaps lacking in fruit to fit my very personal preferences for strong roasty ales, but cohesive and flawless.

Really nice chocolety aroma with notes of red wine, plums and a touch of coffee in the back. It’s super pleasant, might be a bit thicker though. Similar in taste, very rich, lot of different ‚dark’ flavours with pleasant roasted bitterness in the end. Mouthfeel is a bit disapointed. I was expecting much heavier body. In overall - very good stout.

Bottle 0,50L. Courtesy of Gregor. Clear, very dark, ruby brown color with average big, creamy, light brown head. Aroma of ripe dark fruits, caramel, peach & pear, roasted malts. Taste starts light sweet, caramely, dark fruits and finish medium bitter, chocolatly and vanilla like. Excellent imperial stout!

500ml bottle. Brown-black body, thin beige head. I think this one has at least at year on it, so maybe it has mellowed out some. Quite sublime, the oak tones smooth out an already drinkable, solid Imperial Stout. Chocolate, vanilla, coffee. Great stuff.

Czarne, nieprzejrzyste. Piana brązowa, drobna, pojawiają się większe pęcherzyki, ale niewiele. W aromacie deserowa czekolada. Lekki alkohol, ale w przyjemnej pralinkowej nucie. Trochę nut owocowych, śliwkowych. Lekki alkohol beczkowy, trochę nut koniaku. Pojawia się wreszcie wanilia. Trochę wiśni. Złożony, bogaty aromat. W smaku dość wytrawny. Czekolada, nuta kakao. Jest alkohol. Grzeje w przełyku. Trochę przeszkadza. Dużo lepiej pachnie niż smakuje. Alkohol lekko drapiący w gardle. Likierowe w odczuciu, gęste, lekko słodkawe w posmaku. Równoważy to goryczka, alkoholowa i słodowa. Niezłe, konkretne piwo.

330ml bottle from Systembolaget. Pitch black, creamy beige head, some lacing. Subtle malty aroma, bread, licorice, chocolate and woody notes. Mildly carbonated, light and creamy mouthfeel. Soft roasted malty taste, white pepper, licorice, wood and sweet dark dried fruit. Bitter woody and cocoa finish.

Pours black. Aroma is roasted, balanced. Tasted is very roasted, chokolate, a little too roasted for me.
