Copenhagen 17/1 2016. 50 cl bottle from Føtex. Some maritime gear on the label to signify that this beer should be part of your provisions when you are going sea faring. Pours hazy opaque dark brown with red tinge and small off-white head which dissipates quite quickly. Leaves only thin patches of foam. Aroma is overwhelmingly sweet with licorice, syrup, alcohol swollen raisins and some sharp notes of spices. Fizzy carbonation and thick oily palate. Taste follows the nose. Very sweet with sugary syrup, sweet berries, a little coffee bitterness, licorice, a little boozy alcohol and something spicy providing some balance against the Wall of sweetness. Aftertaste is syrup, cognac and alcohol. A nice one to speed up digestion on a sunday night.! KoNrRiI (1716) - Århus, DENMARK - JAN 13, 2016
0.5 bottle. Hazy, very dark brown color and a small, off-white head disappearing almost instantly. Aroma of coffee, tobacco, and not much else. Taste is filled with coffee, tobacco, hints of alcohol warmth, and some spicy notes. A medium body, a creamy texture, and a soft carbonation. Finish is a tad too alcoholic for my taste. Overall, the beer is rough as the name would suggest, but beyond an apt moniker it holds neither much merit nor drinkability.

Bottle from Bilka. Pours very dark amber with a tan head. Aroma and taste is roasted malts, brown sugar, spices, dark dried fruits, coffee notes, Soft carbonation. Nice long finish. TorbenJensen (1590) - Valby, DENMARK - SEP 16, 2015
Rough Snuff II is the legitimate version where the real snuff is replaced by a type of snuff which is produced from apple and corn. It does not have much flavor, but the taste is, however, very top. Lovely deep mouth feeling of dark roasted malts with a sharp spicy aftertaste, probably from snuff. How the added seaweed tastes I can not judge, but it has little smoked over themselves and little sense of the sea and salt water. It is not surprising that it won the award as Best Beer in Denmark 2010, it is a fantastic ale that I fell for immediately. DerGantzel (513) - Aarhus, DENMARK - SEP 5, 2015
Strong coffee aroma. Chocolate, licorice and roasty too. Not as much licorice than the first edition with snuff. Dark, but clear. Medium sweetness and light bitterness - not as powerful as the first edition. Creamy texture, soft carbonation, and a long finish. I have tasted this parallel with the original version, and this number 2 is not as powerful and tasty. But still a good beer by Midtfyns Bryghus! madmitch76 (26448) - , Essex, ENGLAND - JUL 18, 2015

Dark red - amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Thin creamy malts. Something like sweet cappuccino in the background. A cooling mellow medicinal vibe. Sweet semi dry finish. Interesting snuff! Geddit? I’ll get me coat!
