3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
3rd February 2011
Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival. Loads of beers shared with ChrisO and Harrisoni - Cheers! Clear dark amber beer. No real head. Tangy fruit, a little mild dark malt. Pleasantly tangy dark orange. Slightly bitter aftertase. Was hoping for some good stuff from the Summit hops - didn’t really happen!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask (gravity dispense). Beer #11 at Chelmsford Winter Beer Festival on 3 February 2011. Copper colour. No head. Not much condition either. Moist, slightly fruity malt aroma. A little nutty and roasty. Developing spicy hops on the palate. Finishes quite bitter. Didn’t grab me too much initially but grew on me. A solid best bitter in a quite traditional mould. Perhaps a few too many similar beers on the Mighty Oak roster these days.
