Draft at the brewery. The aroma isn’t strong, but it has coffee. The taste is very good, fruity with berries and chocolate. Yum! cyrenaica (1159) - Milton, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 7, 2011
I tried this beer on tap on March 30, 2011 at ’Duggan’s Brewery’ in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a dark brown with a light brown foamy cap that lasted throughout. The aroma was darlk chocolate, coffee, and floral hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, and medium-high carbonation. The flavour was dominated by molasses and coffee, with a nice bitter finish. thb (847) - Alberta, CANADA - APR 10, 2011
Looks good - deep deep brown with a couple fingers of tan foam. It’s an enjoyable drink. It’s got the rich dark chocolate and coffee you’d expect plus some sharp roasty/toastiness reminiscent of a dry stout. It’s a very dry beer in general. Bitter roasty malts and some hop bitternness on the finish. More please! RC8 (305) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 20, 2011
Smelled like a porter, looked like a porter, and tasted like a porter should. Malty and nutty with a chocolatey sweetness. I could detect a metallic note somewhere in the aftertaste that I wasn’t a huge fan of, but apart from that this is pretty much the perfect beer. very creamy, brownish black colour. some coffee bean but I also get nutmeg or something spiced like that as well. plate is mocha, good body, caramel and again some weird nutmeg character that i feel takes a bit too much away from the other flavours. decent brew overall.

Cask at C’est What. Deep black pour with a tight creamy white head. The nose is awesome. Intensely chocolatey and rich with a light cocoa and coffee character. Intensely malty with a nice toastiness through the middle. The balance is spot on with loads of chocolate, milk chooclate and malted milk. Unctuous palate that does remind me of Founders stuff. Lingering coffee on the back. There is a little bit of off-putting yeasty flavour as it starts to warm up, but it’s very nice stuff. Lubiere (14240) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 22, 2010
A deep dark porter with a thick heavy lacing dark brown head. In aroma, oily and intense butterscotch, chocolate and light soy sauce. In moutj a good bitter chocolate with light bitterscotch, fruity esters, a bit thin. On tap at brewpub, August 6 2010. manuchampions (1245) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 24, 2010
On tap at 6th Annual C’est What spring festival 28/05/10. Near-opaque red-brown with a mottled frothy/creamy tan head. Light and dry coffee/chocolate aroma, slightly sweet, no alcohol presence at all, and just a hint of acidity. The taste delivers - mild cocoa and roast coffee bean, mid-level roast overall, dry, only slightly acidic, and thankfully no sign of syrupiness at all - not sweet or lactic, with just a hint of dry herbal bitterness; actually as much like a dark mild as anything. neuromatt (1226) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 20, 2010
On tap at Volo in Toronto, served in an English pint glass. Pours deep black with a minimal head. Head does not cover and leaves no lace. The aroma is primarily coffee and deep roasted malts with a touch of earth. The flavour is moderately bitter throughout with a long malty finish. It is medium-full in body with a milky texture and soft carbonation. Overall, this is a decent, satisfying porter with a nice texture. The malts are not terribly complex and it feels like it is missing something. 2010-06-18 mnurda (1305) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - APR 21, 2010
On tap at Duggan’s. Paired this dark, smoky tasting beer with some ribs. Quite enjoyed this one.
