Not a style I usually go for so thanks to the barman at Tap Craft Beer Bar Singapore - fruity and figgy - very pleasant - alcohol invisible - rich and decadent to my palate - just a bit too sweet - couldn’t drink much of this (a half only) but good.

On tap @ the brewery in Miramar. Dark brown Amber highlights, roasty aroma. Flavour is roasty too, but with some figgy sweetness, lightly estery. Pretty good.

Coffee pour, rich raisin nose. Strong but smooth alcohol start . The alcohol lingers in a good way. Very drinkable

Draught at World of Beer, 12/31/15.
Deep, dark chocolate brown body shows moderate clarity and a beige head atop that is well-retained.
Cocoa powder, sweet milk chocolate, cinnamon-pepper-like phenols and a figgy-prune thing going on translate to a malty, but still at least noticeably Belgian aroma. Soft vanilla, cellar notes and then tons of raisins and dry roast on the finish. No alcohol noted in the nose, nor flaw.
Sweet, undeniably so, in flavor, though not syrupy or cloying. There’s an anise-pepper character from the yeast, as well as light roasted notes, drying out the beer, somewhat, on the finish. Lots of vanilla, very mild acidity and pretty light on the fig character. Tastes like raisins/prunes and seems pretty well-integrated with the beer. Carbonation is moderate, fairly tight and the texture is lightly slick, with some softness from the malt. Quite drinkable, with enjoyable maltiness but certainly not very yeast-forward, which is what I most desire in a BSA.

they called this a dark barrel aged saison. It really resembles neither a saison or a BSA as the fig and barrel character are overpowering. Not in a bad way. A decadent treat, but not as advertised.

On tap at Mike Hess Ocean Beach. raisin and fig, belgian yeast aroma, very dry finish with warming alcohol and appropriate high carbonation. A very good Belgian Dark Strong ale.

Draft. Black, nary a sunbeam getting through this. Half a finger of dense, tan head has some staying power. Fruity, malty aroma. Fig and raisin blend with caramelized steak. Meaty, slightly smoky. Very nice. The flavor is more malt-focused. Same meaty, smoky steak. Soft fig and raisin, bitter char finish. Clean. Medium, pinching carb breaks into silky fizz. Soft medium-light body. A touch of alcohol heat. Nice flavor blend -- I enjoy the balance of smokiness and subtle fruit flavors.

Dark brown pour with medium sized beige head. Aroma of malts, yeast, figs, caramel and faint fruits, Taste of figs, molasses, caramel, belgian yeast, slight fruits and a dry peppery saison finish. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, something not quite right with this but drinkable.

Type: Draft
Glass: 30cl tulip (10.1 oz.)
From: Mike Hess Brewing
Price: $4.25
Purchased: Dec. 12, 2014
Consumed: Dec. 12, 2014
Misc.: N/A

Poured a dark, almost pitch black color with two fingers of tan, rocky head when I got it. Nice uneven spiderweb lacing along the sides of the glass. Average retention. (Sight - 4.00)

Smelled a tad boozy up front. Plum, fig, raisins, caramel, light cocoa, roasted nuts, light floral hops and light smokiness. (Smell - 3.88)

Tasted pretty close to the nose. Earthy fig, Fig Newtons, dark fruit, plum, dates, raisins, smoky nuts, faint coffee beans, caramel and licorice. (Taste - 3.63)

Medium body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Rather abrupt, nutty finish. Took cold for the style in my opinion. (Feel - 3.38)

This was just OK overall. Nothing special and I wouldn’t have it again. (Overall - 3.63)
