Dark brown with almost none head. Nose is moderately malty with nice, raisins and deep fruits accents, far roasted, iodine, soy sauce, woody, spicy, tangy tequila notes, light to moderately boozy. Taste is light heavy sweet with long and stable bitter finish. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, finish is smoked, burning, sweet and tequila.

An aged trade bottle. Black pour, thin head. Whisky heat evident. Nose also has that trademark black char (which can be a little harsh) with super dark fruits, coffee, and an odd taste and nose from what I’m assuming is the tequila. A little rough and prickly - not really a big fan.

Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. Paloność, kawa, gorzka czekolada, lukrecja, ciemne owoce, wiśnie, wysoka goryczka, bardzo intensywne nuty torfowe, dąb i beczka po tequili też obecne. Znakomite.

[email protected] Pitch black colour with a small, but long lasting brown head. Aroma is alcohol, smoke, some vanilla, liqorice and quite strong burnt sugary notes. Flavour is quite much burning alcohol, some liquorice, mild smoke, toasted notes as well as some toffeeish notes. Still a bit hot, but will most likely mellow out a bit with age.

Bottle. Still quite alcoholic, nice sweet vanilla notes, light roastiness and caramel, boozy notes of tequila. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. Interesting.

Bottle thanks to Daniel Osprey. A dark black with a ruby red by hues. Aroma is boozy woody whiskey, sweet boozy malts jammy fruits. Flavour is composed of sweet malts, toffee, bitter black, boozy cake, hot alcohol, solvent, black malts. . Lingering harsh bitter black malts. Palate is sweet, full, sticky, moderate carbonation. Big and bold. Closer to a spirit than a beer.

375ml bottle at home in Richmond as ’Mikkeller 黑 Black Tequila/Speyside Edition’, 18.8%, bottled in June 2012. A thinnish pour to form an opaque black beer with a foamy light brown head. Aroma is mega-meaty bovril and burnt beef to start, moving to vanilla, dark chocolate and chocolate fudge, then spicy tequila. Sticks at tequila. Body is medium, a touch frothy with tingly carbonation. Very well-carbonated for 4 years old. Taste is pretty huge. Crazy woody, spicy tequila. It’s like a mouthful of hops, perfume and oak chips. Very dry with a lasting breathy after-taste. Throat-numbing. The booze is totally hidden amongst the intense flavours. An absolutely ridiculous beer, and more intense than most spirits. Fun to try but the drinkability is only just crunching into first gear. I think I’d really like it if it were a bit more restrained.

haukur (1957) - Reykjavik, ICELAND - NOV 15, 2016
backlog. Bottle. Pitch black, loads of heat in the aroma, oaky, smoke, roast, slight hint of vanilla. Barrel notes with a hint of sweetness. Very nice considering the booze bomb.
