rouhlas (3733) - GREECE - APR 29, 2015
375ml bottle of 2010 at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki, courtesy of skullgeorge. Black color with beige brown head. Alcoholic aroma, more like martini than whiskey, fruits, figs raisins plums, light roasted malty notes, chocolate, wood. Taste is sweet in the beginning, alcohol, chocolate and fruits, then it becomes bitter, with strong coffee notes. Full silky body with soft carbonation, bitter chocolate, light coffee and alcoholic finish.

November 14, 2014. On tap at All in Beer Fest. Black with a large dense brown head. Aroma is whiskey, chocolate, caramel, peat, vanilla. Taste is very sweet caramel, molasses, dark fruits and bitter dark chocolate, alcohol and whiskey notes in the finish. Full bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation.

Pitch black with large black head. Whiskey, vanilla, some coffee and chocolate in aroma. Quite smooth texture with taste of roasted malts, sweet chocolate, coffee and whisky, ending in a fiery alcohol finish.

[email protected] Pours almost pitch black with a huge beige head. Lots of blended whiskey aromas with hints of good espresso. And a lot of other stuff. Very heavy and very rich. The alcohol in the aroma makes it hard to detect other stuff, but I’m certain there is a lot there.

MartinT (10037) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 20, 2014
My Bottom Line:
Roasted cocoa, vanilla and coffee somehow transform into whisky and alcohol warmth before leaving room for rising hop resins and their bitterness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy sheet of foam tops the pitch black.
-This is beautifully coherent aromatically speaking.
-The nose is more endearing than the flavor profile to me.
-It’s rather amazing how the rich malts seem to give way nearly entirely to the whisky apport in the second half of each sip.

Bottle.

jookos (6948) - FINLAND - NOV 14, 2014
[email protected] Black, huge tan head (crappy co2 regulator..). Sweet malty, slight honey roasted oaky, soy sauce, salt licorice etcetc nose. The list could go on forever. As with the normal blacks. This has a sort of a honey whiskey oaky edge to it. Which is nice at first, but glad to have just a 5cl sample,a bottle would be all too much.real nice, complex, abundance of flavours. Should probably have ended the festival with this.

A deep dark brown imperial stout with a thin brown head, lacing. In aroma, beautiful fruity chocolate malt with nice vanilla, milk notes, light alcohol warmth, whiskey barrel. In mouth, a nice sweet amaretto, chocolate, coffee, with strong whiskey final, alcohol warmth, beautiful. Merci Martin.

Kolsvart med stort mörkbrunt skum. Doftar kaffe, choklad och whisky! Fyllig och lite söt men endå besk! Mycket whisky och kaffe i smaken! Även rödvin/dessertvin! Vintage 2009

Bottle @ Home. BB 05.07.19. 2009 vintage. Pitch black, small tan head, some lacing. Good coating. Aroma, roasted malts, coffee, alcohol, oak, sweet, vanilla, whisky. Taste, roasted malts, bitter dark chocolate, molasses, oak, coffee, liquorice, alcohol. Dry mouth feel, with a lot of wood.

Yorker (2027) - Herning, DENMARK - MAR 16, 2014
37.5 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a little sediment and a dark tan head that leaves quite a bit of lacing. Aroma and flavour are roasted, almost burnt, malt, chocolate, vanilla, and whiskey - with warming alcohol and bitterness in the finish.
